I’m a conservative and I always find it disgusting how people who are conservative tend to believe & support cops for everything they do. A nurse was arrested for not giving a blood sample from an unconscious man who was hit by a person the cops were chasing. She was protecting this guys rights, according to law, constitution & hospital policy from a cop that had no warrant or right to demand the sample and because it pissed him off that she didn’t bow down to him he manhandled and arrested her!!! She was given an apology by the government and dept heads but she will win a huge settlement no doubt for this abuse of rights. And then conservatives on TV & online were defending the cops actions saying she should’ve obeyed him! This is ridiculous. ANYTIME you give absolute power to ANYONE you will have abuse of that power. The police should be policed by a 3rd party organization at all times. It’s the only way to insure abuse doesn’t happen. As a side to support my claim that they pull people over based on race and looks I’ll tell you a personal encounter. My husband and I are white and in our late 40’s. Our son, who was 18 yrs old at the time, has very curly hair that he had let grow long....but the longer it grew the bigger it got. We were given an old Cadillac from my husband’s grandmother and I’m sure you can already kinda see where this is going. We went to get pizza to bring home on an overcast day and on the ride home my son went ahead and started eating some. All of a sudden we get pulled over for not having on our headlights when it was overcast , which I’ve never had happen nor heard of happening to anyone I know. One cop comes up to the window and the other sneaks up to peer in the back seat at our son. He’s eating pizza and brushes his hands off and the cop gets crazy asking him what he threw on the floor! As if he threw drugs down or something. Luckily I realized what was going on and told him “he’s just brushing off his hands cause he’s eating back there....something that should’ve been obvious with a huge pizza box sitting there. Anyway, the fact is this...had we not been in that Cadillac with a son in the back that had an Afro (in a mostly white southern town I might add) we never would’ve been stopped in the first place. And had it just been my husband and I that cop wouldn’t have seen my brushing my hands off as an indicator of something criminal. I believe whole heartedly that they thought we were black at first because of the Cadillac and big Afro in the back and when he walked up behind my son he still thought he was black so he judged his actions more harshly. Needless to say that once they realized the truth they let us go without a ticket but the whole thing led me to realize that race DOES play a part in stops. I told my oldest son that we got pulled over and who all was in the car and he immediately said “that’s because they thought y’all were black! Ha! I agree.Thats definitely not to say that they aren’t jerks to white people. Just like certain personality types are drawn to nursing, education, farming etc....certain personality types are drawn to police work and the bad thing is that they tend to be control freaks who enjoy wielding power over others. Cops have zero right to stop you and ask for ID or ask where you are going or where you are coming from without suspicion OF A CRIME. It’s not enough to just say “you look suspicious”, it has to be a reasonable articulable crime....period.

First, the "irony" is that he keeps accusing the police of not knowing the law, when the fact is he is the one demonstrating a lack of knowledge. As for your scenario, at no time did the police "demand" anything from him, they politely asked. The fact that he did not comply with the request and did not get arrested is proof no one thought he disobeyed a lawful order. Walking around a secured facility that would be a prime target for a terrorist attack is not illegal or necessarily suspicious. Walking around it filming, obviously inspecting the security cameras, cables running around the fence, and even touching to fence to see if it is electrified is not illegal (except possibly trespassing), but it is highly suspicious - and he knows it - that was the whole reason he did it. It is well within the expectation for the police to investigate and ASK for identification. Compliance was never demanded and was voluntary - jerk decided to not volunteer with their request. I agree we all need to stand up for our rights or we risk losing them, but still say it is stupid to try to CREATE a situation just for the purpose of making a stand.

I don't understand how people, police in general get upset or defensive about any audits. When police are justifying, as for the public good, DUI roadblocks, prostitution stings, bait cars, bait bicycles, bait underage minors in a chat room, drug dog searches at schools, seat belt/child seat checkpoints, etc. We as a society even justify audits by the IRS, unscheduled health code inspections at restaurants, inspections at nursing homes, hospitals, etc. School boards demand unscheduled audits of a teacher's ability, by allowing someone to sit in on the class. Etc, etc. Etc. The next time a police dept uses underage consumers to try and by alcohol, or tobacco at a store, they are doing EXACTLY what we auditors are doing. Simply allowing someone the chance to either follow the law, or to break the law. As for the use of cameras to document any interaction between a member of society and a member of law enforcement, police do it themselves. If an auditor tells a cop, turn off your body cam, turn off your dash cam, turn off the overhead camera in the interrogation room, turn off the camera in the lobby, turn off the camera in the booking area etc. The same cop will say no. Why? It is there to be an impartial tool, to document without prejudice, and to protect not only the officer, but the public. The only difference is, if the cops do wrong on camera, or the information provided by the camera does not benefit or confirm their side of story, they can loose, destroy, refuse to release etc such evidence. When a member of society has the benefit of video evidence, which they have possession and legal authority over, they as a member of society HAVE ACCESS and CONTROL over, not the police. Imagine if every time you have a BBQ, the fire department policy is to show up at your house and CHECK, JUST FOR YOUR SAFETY, on what your doing? Or if they keep saying, we had someone call about the tiny amount of smoke and BBQ smell, so we HAVE TO WASTE my time, your time, and our time to check it out. By the way, do you have smoke detectors in the house, since were here we can go in house and CHECK. Do you have stickers on Windows notifying US of a children's room? What is your exit plan if a fire starts in the kitchen. We need to just check and see if your extinguishers are up to date. When was the last time you had your chimneys cleaned? Why is a gas can located on the floor of the garage? We now have to call the city code enforcer as ........all that because you were doing nothing illegal, but someone called. It is the SAME as when a cop says. We got called, so ya you will give us I.D., now we need to search you for weapons, where are you parked, etc.

It's just an example of how controlled we are. There is no crime for being stupid with a video camera. The reality is the police are not letting a citizen express themselves no matter how stupid it looks. That's not freedom

Jake Ramzy a person walking around and looking isn’t being suspect. A man standing there inspecting the fence oddly, videoing the same section for god knows how long, then tries to walk away quickly looks extremely suspicious and deserves to be questioned about his presence there.
