Welcome back to Gamology and another awesome episode of Experts React.
Today we have Chris the Cop reviewing one of his and our favorite games - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and specifically the Prison Break mission.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a 2022 first-person shooter game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is a sequel to the 2019 reboot and is the nineteenth installment in the overall Call of Duty series. It was released on October 28, 2022, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

We always carried 7 mags on our kit and another 4 in our assault packs overseas. People don't understand how fast you can run black on ammo

⁠@@ShadowofFenrirFYI I’m just interested in this thread and thinking about your question without knowing the actual answer - but wouldn’t that person then be a huge liability/target if they weren’t a trained operative too? The unit would have to then protect or have a distracting level of awareness on that individual - and then there is no guarantee that ammo person would be available to whoever needed them most. That could lead to irresponsible use of ammunition thinking there is extra when the extra could already be used up for all the operatives know. The only way to coordinate that would be with radio and that’s another level of risk, distraction and uncertain results. Better that each operative have everything they need and manage their ammo accordingly than have such a wildcard as an ammo guy be part of the unit. I imagine it’s possible for the lead operative, who’d likely have that extra experience/skill by virtue of command, to have extra ammunition or special equipment to deploy among the unit should they run black on ammo. So id imagine if anyone were to be carrying more ammo etc from the others that it would be that lead operative over an easy target 🤔

@@risac.8384 Correct, there is not one guy who carries everything. In my experience (Canadian Army) the only time I had to carry ammo for someone else was for my buddy who had the squad weapon (C9 or the M249).

When he’s talking about strategic planning at the beginning, it reminds me of those movie scenes with the thumbtacks connected by yarn. I feel like only a psychopath would connect thumbtacks with yarn 😅

To answer one of the questions he had at the end about how much military operators carry, it’s more than police carry for sure. I’m a Marine so I can only speak to our branch, but I have an M4 and the combat loadout is 7 magazines (I keep 6 on the chest and 1 on the left hip with 3 pistol mags total) and the automatic rifleman of the fire team has an M27 that is issued with 22 mags. Most mags I’ve seen anyone carry on person was 12 though. There’s usually extra rounds in packs.

In Afghan we carried 6 mags for the rifle and those of us with a pistol carried 2 mags for that. We also had a couple of 100 rd boxes of link for the lmg and a few hundred rds of 5.56 on stripper clips throughout the section.

It be cool to see Chris watch footage with Cameron and Isreal and ask questions based on what there watching. Fath talks about clearing rooms all the time which Chris was in swat I beilive so to conversate the differences would be cool. Or even play a game like that together see what the different calls are or putting there knowledge together

We usually carry four to six rifle magazines not including the ones carried on or in our rucksack.

As far as mags go I’m assuming they would bring a basic load at least. 7 mags in total so around 210 rounds. I never carried frags or grenades so no clue on that

Just a little thought experiment, Suppressor + Sub Sonic Bullets... would that lower the sound to a low enough level to be "silent"

depends. on a low caliber weapon like a 22 LR? yes. it can be just the clack. on a rifle round like the 5.56 nato? it still has some noise or you need a really big suppressor. and both of these slow down your fire as rapid shooting or full-auto can heat up and reduce the effect of the suppressor fast.

From what I can find, subsonics are good to have with a suppressor. It'll help reduce the noise of the gunshot more than supersonic rounds. For many type of rounds, not enough to be "silent" though, but at least help make them more quiet and thus make it harder for hostiles to hear the shot and figure out where it's coming from; especially at a distance.
