Actually no they did not recount as they were suppose to BUT patrol officer Welsh was driving the money to the bank and later said one bag they had counted had ‘fell’ to the floor but he did not report it until he found out the bank was like hey there is money missing. That was days later than the day he said he had actually found it. Plus he also had grabbed money before it was counted. He spent some. Got a slap on the wrist really. If we had done something like this it would be prison time.

We had calculators and receipt tape, and at least two armed guards in the room with us and one standing outside the door. Oh and cameras. We didn't leave until our register money came out even. Granted, yes, nobody truly knows what they would do if they were in that situation, but I “feel“ common sense would dictate that if you found a bag of evidence in your vehicle and it got there by an honest mistake, an honest person would immediately report it Using the defense that it was an honest mistake. Someone hiding it, and not coming forward until the money was found missing several days later, then instead of reporting it going to a fellow officer and asking them what to do because you’re scared, that just reeks of Guilt.

The idea of miscounting might sound minor, but when it involves drug money, every dollar counts, and the stakes are incredibly high. It raises serious questions about accountability and oversight. The shift away from handling cash might just be a lesson learned the hard way by the DEA. It’s a relief to hear that despite the oversight, no officers lost their jobs. This incident certainly shines a spotlight on the complexities and challenges law enforcement faces in these high-pressure situations.

Granted I guess something could have happened in the last 15min but it seemed like a regular interview to me. Also, not only were there no “accusations” made during this interview, the officer seemed no more “shocked” by it then I did my first watching of this video. The title is a little misleading. Obviously the interview is disconcerting to the officer because he’s there on unpaid administrative leave regarding missing money, he was involved in counting. But this 15+ year veterans seems pretty confident in his innocence and is simply here just answering questions. He knows why he’s there. He knows the police department is more interested in another Officer, seeing as how that officer withheld information about money found in his car. This is just another boring interview. Nothing heated or shocking about it. Other than the overall subject.
