Having worn pads in highschool, then plate carrier with my marines, I wanted to argue about the difference. But after remembering my time in pads, ya it's 99% true. The 1% difference is plate carrier can be wayyyy more comfy if you set it up right. Like I had my mag pouches sit slightly offset at an angle so I could use them as an arm rest. Little things like that can help a lot after rucking several miles or after busting your ass in a good pt session. Not to mention it is better at retaining heat.

@@SuicidePar Your reaction time is way slower with hands in your pockets or your comfortable position plus an easy target for muggers. If someone wants to be more comfortable it can be done without gear or at home on a couch; in order to be natural at keeping your hand or feet at the correct positions, you have to drill the habit into yourself that normal comfortable becomes uncomfortable.

@@SuicidePar We called putting hands in pockets wearing Air Force Gloves. I still hear a DI yelling at recruits "what are you hands doing with your hands in pockets, what ya playing with in there? what are you in the Air Force? We don't allow soldiers to wear Air Force Gloves" And that was 30+ years ago for me. Also same here, before we got the vests, we had the old LCE suspenders and a lot of guys would rest arms inside suspenders above pistol belt. The ammo pouches made a bit of spot to rest arms.

What a straight up DIRTY cop. He literally listened to that teenager say he’s going to say whatever he needed to say to get her taken out of that house. He didn’t care he was going to say ANYTHING WHATEVER IS NEEDED. The cop was literally standing right there listening to him confess that was his intent then not even 3 minutes later there he goes answering pointed questions by the same cop DIRECTING him on what was needed to be said yes to then and ONLY then did he say WHATEVER was needed to get his mother removed. This is crapy police work and they are going to permanently sever whatever was left of this mother and son relationship. Disgusting. That cop and all those cops who allowed that to happen like that should be stripped of their badge and fired. If they have shown to have this level of integrity then wow they cannot be trusted when need to handle more important matters. Their word and integrity must of a certain level to command the respect needed for that job. Those are disgraceful jokes. Not officers of the law.

@@TrumpWonTwice Soooo can you explain why 90% of the time when we rest our hands inside the vest, no one is actually around? Also, ironically when we interact with people, we usually take the hands OUT of the vest so that we are actually ready to use the equipment if ever necessary. Besides all this, all of the weaponry and tools are located on the belt, not the vest, so there is just absolutely no reason to expose our vests to people to "show off what we have". Again, just goes to show you've never been in this line of work.

It's not just comfortable, if you're wearing a vest and duty belt and stuff, where you have all kinds of gear all over your body, it blocks many of the places you would usually put your hands. You naturally start looking for somewhere to put your hands, and the vest is just the natural place.

I used to be a cop for a few years. The vest is also a good pillow. When you sit in your unit your vest sort of moves up a little like a turtle shell and you just let your head fall down and rest your chin on top the vest. But the vest gets hot, and you're constantly adjusting it, moving it around, pulling the neck part away from you, etc. It's literally like having a turtle shell. Most police vests can stop any handgun, but not rifle. Knife can go through a vest like butter.
