Beautiful aircraft, with 3 engine safety, giving the pilots massive amounts of power whenever they need it !! Far better than the NH90 !!

We have three of these expensive helicopters rotting in Delhi airport because of a corruption scandal under the previous government. Since the scandal came to light, Augusta Westland and Finmeccanica itself is blacklisted in India and so these heptrs have neither spares nor customers. Looks likely that the role these were meant to fulfill will now be fulfilled by an Indian designed helicopter (HAL IMRH) of which around 320 will likely be ordered around 2030. Still, it was an agonizing two decades without this chopper. Oh well, at least we didn't have to pay for all 12 helicopters we had ordered. French had the last laugh because they are helping develop the engines for the HAL IMRH.

@@death_parade Im glad you have your own solutions. But Augusta Westland has its factories in Poland and I think, these helicopters are produced in cooperation with most developed partners with technology that you can only imagine. Just maybe - thats the problem of Yours, no investment,. Very often people who cannot afford expensive equipment usually abandon it. But thats just my point of view. Keep up a good work.

@@hdmibullshell5390 I don't know why me lamenting about the dysmal state of procurement in Indian MoD set you off, but I can't let such factually wrong drivel go unanswered. "Cannot afford expensive equipment" he says, about the military with the third largest defence budget and fastest growing economy in the world lol. "Augusta Westland has a factory in Poland" so what? It is not a Polish firm is it? Boeing also makes all the airframes of its Apache AH-64E attack helicopters in a joint venture with Indian Tata Group in India. Do you see me jumping up and down because of that? No. That is just a foreign firm simply manufacturing stuff in India. Heck, we build the entire Su-30MKI within India and are now upgrading it in India without Russian involvement, but even then I don't call that jet "Indian." "Technology you can only imagine"? Dude, we are not Iran. If I start writing about Indian technological achievements, you will run for the hills. We hold the world record for the longest distance quantum entanglement communication on commercial fiber optic cables, for example. Our startups have the world's highest resolution Hyperspectral imaging satellites, for example and are winning contracts from US DoD. We developed our own GPS, our own Ballistic Missile Defence systems, our own Anti-Satellite Missiles, our own nuclear submarines, etc not because foreign equipment is "expensive", but because foreign equipment can allow foreigners to hold us hostage. That is the sole reason why India is investing so much in domestic tech development. We do have a ways to go, such as in jet engine tech, but the situation is certainly not "technology you can only imagine." Don't think that Poland is some superior nation or something and that India is some basket case just because it didn't buy a helicopter that some factories in your country just happen to assemble. Don't be so ignorant.

Corruption is in all this communist leftist even in Europe. Poland cancelled contract with France helicopters because that was also old rubbish;) Augusta-Westland is cooperating English and Italian companies that had manufacturing company in Poland. Poland chose also AW-149 for Army and this birds use the same engines and have new design and this is important..
