to summarise: 1. wrap the cloth around two fingers and apply polish 2. apply more polish 2 1/2. wait for it to dry 3. apply more polish 3 1/2. wait for it to dry 4. apply more polish 4 1/2. wait for it to dry 5. wrap the cloth around a single finger, drag it across the polish once, dip it in water and then make small circular motions on the area you wish to be polished 6. apply more polish 7. repeat step 5

Great video, very informative. One piece of unsolicited advice however: Don't say things that undermine your skill. Things like "I don't know". It takes away some of the viewer's confidence in you. You're making the video because you DO know how to shine a shoe, so be proud of your knowledge and give it as best you can. I appreciate your humility but the people here are looking for someone who DOES know how to shine shoes, so be that someone! Thanks again and cheers.

My dad showed me a method that takes 10mins for a experienced 'buller' and 30 for a not so experienced one. 1. Polish the boots and layer multiple times until a good amount of layers is applied. 2. Take a cotton ball or cloth and soak and i mean drown it do not rinse 3. Put a bit of polish on and go in circles pressing down slightly in bigish circles 4. Make sure it's soaked and go in small circles pressing really lightly 5. keep going until shiny (I'll do a vid if ppl want)

it is a pretty good techique however the reason why theres that massive bit in the middle of that toecap is because whoever polished it has used too much water kind of trapping the polish and stopping you from achieving a shine. if you ever get this, use a hairdryer and melt the polish off. to get the polish off use the hairdryer and use an off brush and once you got your polish off, leave it to dry for at least an hour and then you can start polishing again 👍

Leather is porous because it is basically skin that's been treated and tanned. The pores on the leather absorb light which makes the surface seem dull and rough. On a good set of shoes one could actually see the pores. When one adds polish to the leather each subsequent layer will fill the pores of the leather causing the light to reflect off the surface.
@KrishnaSingh-pm4cl6 жыл бұрын
Very good
@omarsharif88155 жыл бұрын
Apply heat to the cracked layer. It will even out the bumps and the kiwi will stick firmly to the leather and will not crack again ever, unless it is stepped on or scratched (But you can repeat the same treatment if it is stepped on or scratched). You can use lighter or candle for such purpose if you can't get a heat gun. Heat treated kiwi layer can be easily polished to mirror shine, directly with small amount of kiwi and water without having first layered it, as the older layer is melted and hardened in the pores of the leather. To improve the shine, use ice cold water. You need only a small droplets of water, placed directly on the shoes /boots if you wish, for mirror shine. You can even do that to the whole shoes/boots that even creases and folds would not break up the kiwi. They will be glassy smooth and shinny throughout unless the leather starts to crack. However, remember to heat treat a thin layer at a time before mirror-shinning it and build up the hardened kiwi layer gradually until the layer is thick enough that you only need to do mirror shine straight away.

@roninleaf5 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the expectations. If you arent in cadets or the military, do whatever you want with the polish. If its military or cadets, its better to not use the ones that give gloss because if you dont know how to use it, it could end up giving the boot or shoe cancer

It DOES matter if the wax/polish is cracked in the can. It means the evaporative agent in the polish/was is evaporated and it won't soak into the leather and dry. It also gets messy with chips that fall out of the can and off the rag. Pay the extra bux for a good quality wax/ polish.
