"The Great Man is a myth." So true. What we like to call 'great' people often worked 130-hour weeks, ignored their spouses and children entirely, were heavily dependent on stimulants/caffeine/drugs to function, ran their organs and hormones into the ground prematurely, exploited thousands of lives for personal gain with no apparent remorse, were obsessed with the one-off hit that 'winning' a self-made competition offers, had virtually zero interest in spiritual or emotional development, and probably never took a second to examine the traumas and/or limiting beliefs that spurred them to conquer their so-called universe in the first place. Their reward was ultimately void. Truly 'great' people, and I would hesitate to characterize anyone as such, are ones you've never heard of and likely never will.

It's unfortunate but accurate to think that you can't reach your field's frontier without religious devotion to it, but it is what it takes to drive the field forward. I'm at this crossroads myself currently, deciding what to do with my life. It does seem that you neglect the colossal contributions to humanity from great people when you do your weighing up

@@nonename7869 Mother teresa, Ghandi were not perfect people either. Mother Teresa said suffering was part of life and the poor were destined to suffer. At least in capitalism, people have hope, and a chance to succeed. Capitalist inventions like computers and internet, have given everyone a voice, and a chance to learn and study. Bill Gates has done more for humanity than Mother Teresa did.

gratitude is the opening of the heart and the seeing of what is ... giving born of gratitude is the heart of life ...truth is what is lived daily as the light of consciousness shines outwardly into the depth of being and brings harmony into the human condition.. life is only a theory until it is lived ...which brings experience into life... the knowledge of that experience brings about the ability to discern facts relative to the human condition ...which is wisdom ...with this comes the realization of oneness and stepping fearlessly into the unknown creates freedom....

You made an excellent point: "Don't vote for a human, vote for a new system!" My criteria for choosing a candidate to vote for has always been the platform, what that candidate stood for and promised to do to improve their constituents' conditions. Unfortunately, I've learned that, not only do candidates lie to get elected, but most modern voters and electoral colleges vote for charisma, mudslinging, and loud speeches rather than anything intelligent.

Russell, I've been doing some reflecting on the relationship between the voice in the head and physical actions. It appears that the voice only has control when I'm not aware it's a voice. As soon as I'm aware of the voice it has no power. I find that if the voice in my head says "move your arm", my arm doesn't move no matter how much the voice asks or demands.

Well put! Thoughts that come to mind: Revolution: The Uniting of the Inner and the Outer Will Be Our Saving Grace "Don't vote for a new politician. Vote for a new system," said a very perceptive Russell Brand in a particularly perceptive moment. Yes. And remember, the inner and the outer are intertwined and interdependent - and we cannot afford to neglect either one. I spent decades oscillating between a focus on the spiritual, the philosophical, the deeper and bigger picture, and then focusing on the very concrete sociological and political-economic realms, and back and forth. Finally, that ebb and flow gave way to a synthesis, where inner and outer are bridged and balanced and integrated. I believe that is the direction in which we need to move now, as a global human family, which is exactly what we are. A focus solely on the political is ultimately superficial as well as blind; but a focus solely on the spiritual or philosophical which ignores the sociological and the political, is effectively neutered and self-neutering, and does not allow its own natural unfolding or virtuous empowerment in the broader world. I think it is clear that the spiritual or philosophical, and the inner, must be wedded to and engaged in the social and political dimensions of life, as well. That, will bring about the transformation of the world which we so urgently need; and nothing less will do. I would add, however, that we should, as one of my own teachers has emphatically said, never tell ourselves that we are powerless. That is, in fact one, of the primary illusions, if not the primary illusion, preventing real, positive change. We do have power; we simply never have control - no one does. But by embracing our own power in ways based in honesty, compassion and love, and uniting with others in a spirit which embraces honesty, compassion and love, and that other absolutely essential element, which is freedom, in that way, our society can and will change, and our world will be healed and transformed. We do not need to aim for a perfect, utopian world, and nor should we, at least in the short term. Such perfectionism usually, historically, has led to tyranny and fanaticism. But can we heal our world, and create a better world for all? Of course. And why should we not? Let's go. - J. Todd Ring, Author of Enlightened Democracy, and, The People vs The Elite, February 24, 2021 Find me on WordPress, Patreon and Minds, Russell and friends! I would love to hear from you!

The rest of the people or subjects I don't know anything about, so they're probably from off the TV, something I haven't watched since 1972 so I couldn't comment on them. In regard to politicians, all I'll say to sum them up is this..... How can any reasonable Human Being be expected to put trust into people that lie for a living? I haven't voted in either a local or national election for many years now, simply because I wouldn't trust the buggers to look after a packet of crisps, let alone a bloody country. All you get from politics is let down ..... often, and they will always look after their interests before anyone else's. As my old mum used to say " It doesn't matter who get's voted into government, you and I will still have to go to work tomorrow whatever".

Unfortunately, the 1% which is mostly big business, paying for politicians and organisations that will work in their favour. There's no big conspiracy or radical agender. It's just the 1% all have the same collective goal - to make more money and to protect the money & ability to make money that they already enjoy, so that's the direction everything moves in. The influence of this group have more impact on our systems then the remaining 99%. Nothing ever changes because the 1% are a leaderless collective and can't be removed or changed. So we're stuck with it until something turns this system upside down or we stop being part of the system all together.

Chrono oh did I type life code? 😂😂😂 light code. It assists in your awakening . Light energy entered the DNA and literally upgrades you at a cellular level. Causing the human consciousness to expand and awaken. Gifts usually accompany these awakenings. Telepathy, precognition and astral travel. Signs and synchronicities to keep you on your path.

Another Yanis Varoufakis interview would be great if pos, Russell. The world feels like a very different place since your previous interview with him and it would be interesting to hear Yanis' take on the new post Brexit/Corbyn/Covid landscape.

While I can find Russell's rhetoric a bit grating at time, I Appreciate the willingness to platform and non-judgmentally consider other positions

Perhaps because he has become self aware of his own ego. Maybe drug addictions, talking to intellectuals and older age has helped.

Accountability - give him credit when he does well - call him out when he messes up - that’s called accountability - not difficult to grasp - should be the same way you raise your kids.

Love it Russell! But the question I really would love answered is was Herbert Spencer’s economic theory that was based on Darwin’s survival of the fittest ( the father theory for trickledown economics) fundamentally floored!? And did Darwin really disagree with Herbert Spencer as Darwin himself proved that Empathy and altruism were the true winners of evolution and if we were to create an economic strategy based on nature and evolution that it would have to include empathy, altruism and symbiosis!? And could it be true that modern monetary theory could indeed incorporate these evolutionary winning survival traits and create a sustainable, strong economic system that would work for all that take part in such a system!? And also if empathy and altruism are such great evolutional winners why are we being made to compete against each other and for what purpose are we competing against each other and who really benefits from this divide between us!? I hope you could shed some light on this hidden in plain view subject as I’m most perplexed how empathy and altruism ( our most treasured survival winning traits)have become politicised and in doing so it seems it has dehumanised us along the way🤔 any ways love to ya Russell and may the truth set us free✌️✌️
