Ah, I can listen to this man talk forever! If Maniratnam is ARR’s mentor, then Rajiv seems to be his soulmate, partner in sublime!!! Interesting to know how ARR sees himself as Indie musician and that enables him to continuously experiment! And those experiments give us glorious musical experiences like never before! Thinking about Kandukundein Kandukundein which featured in episode 136, I wonder how many people remember the scene where Aishwarya Rai is learning to sing and we hear the initial notes of the raga Nalinakanthi being sung. It was so incredible to hear that it has stuck with me even after all these years. This is the attention to detail that we have come to expect from Rajiv Menon and Rahman. Lots of love from Melbourne.

So nice of you to be showcasing this forgotten movie and its soundtrack - it always pains me being a Rahmaniac when Sarvam Thaala Mayam isn't talked about AT ALL anywhere, and even generally, I feel Rahman sir gets so much undeserved disdain for his supposed 'mediocre' music nowadays. I get excited about every Rahman sir album the same way I used to 2 decades ago, so I really want to punch these haters' stupid faces when they say stupid stuff like this all the time online. I love this album and I feel people's tastes have changed, all they're looking for nowadays is regurgitated trash, so it's not this icon's problem. He has been creating phenomenal and memorable music all his life. I'm proud to be a Rahmaniac till my life's end.

I dont hate anyone or want to punch anyone 😂. But i agree with rest of the sentiment. I used to like 80% of his music before 2000 or 2010 whenever people claim he lost his charm l and 80% of his newer music, that hasnt gone down, but i feel the lyrical quality has been letting down his music especially in telugu, and part of it is mispronounciations by newer gen singers. Most of the new songs have mispronounciations which puts off listeners. I wish someone tells him about this

True that! ARR has neither become old nor incapable suddenly as people claim but it’s the changing tastes of the ppl that prompts such music from him! Really if there are such passionate listeners even today and filmmakers who won’t chop his even well made songs, then why on the earth he can’t repeat the magic! So, if we as listeners are not the same and are so called evolving audiences, then why can’t his music evolve to something that he considers genZ stuff or so?!

Unfortunately, I was not aware of the movie nor the music as much but this episode has surely given ppl like me some glimpse and taste of it! Why Rahman kept asking for Menon to make more movies is clearly evident as even Rahman claims that his friend is an encyclopaedia of Carnatic music, ragas and many more. Esp. the icing on the cake was when Rahman agreed to the director’s tune. I wish that could be the Moment of the Day for this episode! How open minded and collaborative sport that Rahman is was again highlighted throughout the episode in Mr. Menon’s words!

ARR is absolutely right that people like Ranjiv Menon should make more movies. Such talent wasted when he makes so few of them. For me STM's music was subpar compared to his first two movies with ARR but I really hope they work again and come up with a masterpiece album like the first two.

Dear Sir. It is not repeat. We had recorded a long interview with Mr. Menon. In the 1st series, early last year, we discussed his association with Mr. Rahman on Ad films, and Films that Mr. menon shot. Now we are discussing films that Mr. menon Directed, & Mr. Rahman Scored music. No repeats. Regards

Didn't you see Rahman did all his experimentations from the very first album Roja with both Hindustani and Carnatic plus he also did Sufi, Middle East, Chinese, and a lot of Western music which I'm sure Ilayaraja didnt even do half of this! Do you call that music Sound engineering? Then, you're probably insulting those musical cultures for your lack of knowledge. He's not just doing sound gimmicks as some ppl like to spread. No music director can be called great or GOAT without being the master of melody, whether it is Ilayaraja or Rahman! And I believe both are immensely talented in creating soulful melodies in their own inimitable styles!

@@anantha1201 r u ignorant grr fan🤣.The above mentioned music genres have done by Ilayaraja in his 80s and early 70s itself and showcased his brilliance in orchestration. And Rahman just bought in technology thts it. Lack of knowledge! It's a fact. He just bought in sound engineering and auto tune. Nothing great in his music though he had done those experiments. As Ilayaraja did it before in hand and being the first to compose a symphony in Indi. Arr is overrated thts it.

@@sudarshanramachandran8778 The world knows who is ignorant here! Rahman is accepted all over the world and tell me if you're that knowledgeable one Sufi song that Ilayaraja did! I appreciate that he has recorded his live Symphony in London Philharmonic orchestra but what about the innumerable musical genres that Rahman covered throught his later 90s n post 2000s work across the boundaries. If he's overrated, he can't even step into Hollywood or compose for Chinese films. Even that sound engineering you are turning a blind eye is not a small patch up work here, it's immense efforts of his from the beginning of his career to where he's now and he still collaborates with so many young musicians even today. Who on the earth will call all this overrated except some super ignorant souls like you?!!
