@@terryj50 the growth in the eurozone has lagged behind the UK only in the last two quarters but in the period between Brexit and no, overall UK growth has lagged behind the EU. As for overall UK trade, the value of total goods exports decreased by £17.4 billion (4.4%) when compared with 2022, however they increased by £23.7 billion (6.7%) when compared with 2018. Exports to both EU and non-EU countries fell throughout 2023, with EU exports falling by £11.5 billion and non-EU exports by £5.9 billion. Although the UK economy is performing well over the last two quarters, this needs to be viewed over a longer period and to take into account other factors such as inflation, the calculation for which isn't available. I noticed the other day, that there are now empty shelves appearing in the grocery section of my local Morrisons. I have never seen empty shelves in a supermarket before. The price of meals has flown up too. £15.95 for a burger and chips and that price is reflected across many restaurants and pubs. This is just the beginning.

Wow, you must be a mind reader and know what I did during COVID, that is spooky. You must become an advisor to the government and cause even more chaos. Btw, I remember before we joined the EEC that the British government of the time went to the IMF begging for a loan to get the economy out of a life changing serious situation. Our fortunes turned around after we joined the EEC. Now we have left the EU and our economy is back in the same mess as it was back in the 1970's. No I haven't made any of this up. Just do some research around the 1970's using reputable sources.

Europe will have no appetite for the UK rejoining for quite a while; think of Brexit as a super nasty divorce. Unfortunately there is no mechanism for 'rejoining', the reality is the uk is now in the position that it has to join, meet all of the Copenhagen criteria and worst of all, somehow overcome the ill feeling created by the far right media, the tories, old labour gammons, the list goes on. We can't overlook the damage that 30 years of a constant stream of insults and moaning. I hope I'm wrong as I just want to leave the uk, I'm finished with idiot island.
