A national affairs writer for The Nation, Nichols published the groundbreaking article, “President Trump-It Could Happen,” in February 2016. Now that it has, he draws on his decades of political-reporting experience for this primer on key figures in the Trump administration. Nichols delves beyond the household names like Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus, profiling more obscure Trump advisors such as Carl Icahn and Diane Hendricks. He lays out these people’s connections and special interests, and describes what’s likely in store for the departments they’re in charge of.

Thank you sincerely Mr. Nichols and my heartfelt gratitude to Ben Wikler for his fight for healthcare! Due to preexisting conditions I had to wait the addition two years for access to medical treatment which then continued to be attacked by Washington State bureaucrats, in the middle of a chronic condition and unable to continue working and denied disability, i lost everything, my excellent credit, my car and had to move to oregon and live in my sons unfinished basement, where i still live today, GOP seemed certain they would repeal the ACA they kicked me off my insurance in winter of 2017 saying if I didn't get my GOV issued native American card I would continue to be denied access to medical treatment. I finally received my Native card in December 2017 and close to dying, I've been in treatment that hasn't been working and both Washington & Oregon Health Athority continue to deny any real treatment that would heal my autoimmune conditions because of the expensive cost for pharmaceuticals, I was able to file for early retirement in May then SSA approved my back disability one year and refuses to release those funds so I could get housing and now blocks me from reduced senior housing! I've been advised to leave the North West if I care about saving my life! What has happened to this country?! Thank you Ben and all those that fought for citizens like myself. 💜

Why don't , the folks who analyze, study and understand the big picture, in politics, run for office? These individuals would truly make the country great.

Gary Doss for the same reason that film critics don't make films... those who know do, those who don't critic or teach... It is easy to be an armchair president, football coach,etc...

This was terrific. Very motivating to learn about the players in Trump's cabinet, how they are affecting our country and not be distracted by Trump. Mr. Nichols called out Rex Tillerson's future firing right on target.

In the Historical context of your country, Trump is a statistic . The time has come to do some soul searching about the values you cherish and the nation you want to become, you are free to redifine yourself America.

Thanks for the vid. Mr Nichols is correct. If I could quote John Cleese on Trump's cabinet - “He could start a pirate ship with that lot"

I'm glad the camera showed the end of the room, I always had the notion this was a small, basement-sheltered event, with just a bunch of people above their 50's - sadly because social change depends on the new generations and the level of their maturity. It gives me hope to see a vast room like this filled with people of all ages.

We Americans got the president we deserve. I might not be happy about it and I might not be happy about electoral system, but that is the fact.

Mr. Nichols: Thank you very much for your thoughts on "Politics and Prose". What you thought regarding Trump's cabinet as well as Trump himself was very thoughtful and will be put into my blog tomorrow. (I think Betsy DeVos is the perfect candidate, don't you?) My blog is very tiny, but I do enjoy it. It's a work of love more than anything else. If you'd like to see it, here goes: emilysvirtualrocket.blogspot.com Thanks.
