Safety is paramount when pollarding willows, especially for the first time. Willows can provide decent fodder for stock.

Why not use a polesaw?

Indeed, it would be much safer.

have you tried saving your tree fodder out of sunlight? We started saving our brick compressed azolla and duckweed out of sunlight completely. Then compressing it once it's dry. It help so much. they just retain more nutrion.

I would like to see more of this in the United States. The department of agriculture could be be giving away trees instead of cash payments for drought.

You could pollard them shorter and you could make tree hay. Also could coppice instead.

Yes but there are sheep grazing in the field. Pollarding at this height prevents them from browsing.

Notice how long the health and safety lecture was? They just assume everyone except them is stupid. I'm rather offended. I think I might sue.
