The best thing about poly would probably be the amount of freedom for independence and self reliance, poly just gives you a bunch of datelines, you plan your own time out, plan out how to make use of your time wisely, this is an extremely helpful skill to train altho at first you’ll break yourself, eventually you’ll learn how useful this is for practically everything

I just wished they include this stereotype too.. *people who are not in poly* : poly sounds fun and chillax, unlike JC! *people who are actually in poly* : Haha.. *SURE* A side note to those who are considering going to poly👇 Poly is not just fun and games, sure it can be fun if you planned your time well in studying and enjoying yourself but just imagine this. *How can you not be stress when every single test/exam/project/presentation/lab/work ur lecturer assign u affects ur graduating results?* In secondary school or jc, if you flunk one test you'd be upset but would comfort yourself by doing better in the next test. But in poly, if u flunk one test/project/lab, its endgame. Especially if the test carries a high percentage in your module. Its like a butterfly effect, if u did badly in Year 1,then ur final gpa probably won't be good too since your grades are cumulative throughout the 3 years And tbh to do well in poly, you really gotta care about your grades. Your determination must be strong too. In jc if you don't listen in class, you will get scolded but in poly if you don't listen in class, nobody gives a damn. You are on your own and nobody will push nor spoon feed you or remind you to do work or complete your own assignments (maybe your friends will but that also depends on the type of ppl you hang out with),which is also a good culture exposure because they are training the students to be independent and to work hard for their own grades. Btw, I am like Zac, i am a JC to Poly kind of student.

Poly was the worst three years of my life as it was just projects and deadlines and sleepless nights (design student). I went out to work for awhile and headed to uni. Would never work in the design industry ever but if given a choice, I would still do design again. I enjoyed what I was doing but it just wasn't my forte and I had a lecturer shamed me when I suffered from anxiety back then. At the end of the day, it's these experiences that help us grow and perhaps be more certain of what we want to achieve in life.

Poly kids are generally more street smart bcos of the environment or the freedom they have in a tertiary institution similar to university. It shows during the army. It’s not the person, it’s the system & environment that nurture. (Of course, there are odd ones out) Formal school has school rules, uniform, proper timetable & structure to follow,.... that makes everyone to be the same in some way. Kind of similar to army, prison, ... u are not encourage or given the freedom to be different. That said, there’s no right or wrong path. Just which is more suitable for u. End of the day, it even out.

I'm rmb our FYP days. When the chio girls in our course who always put on make up everyday to school, came without makeup. You know how stressed it was when the girls just hack care and came with nude face. (no joke, we couldn't recognise some at first sight, need 2 or even 3rd look) Some of us hoped that we could sleep in the studio (ya. Design life) to save the time on travelling. Literally left school at 11pm and reached back at 730am. Sometimes when we are too early, we can't tap in the door.

Their course are mostly coursework based but I like to believe that courses that is 50% coursework and 50% paper have the most slackers. Because people carry them and even if they score badly on their coursework, they just score well on paper and get a gpa of 3 and above. Because coursework is mostly based on the group's work, nobody would know if you hardcore carry or not. Teachers would also show your group's results tgt so you will see if you got pulled down bcs your peer mark you down. These slackers like to pull the "since you are my friend, you shouldn't mark me down for peer appraisal" card. Sorry hor. I rather not have the friendship if you gg to pull that shit on me.
@mardhora
@mardhora 4 жыл бұрын
cherry ong speaking of peer appraisals, sadly i became an outcast for marking my peers down in year 1 sem 1. To make it worse, these peers were friends with the so called popular kids in school. They told their friends that I marked them down. My life was basically HELL for 3 whole years. It’s unfair that these peers of mine who never did any work at all demand an explanation why i marked them down?
@privatespace3149
@privatespace3149 4 жыл бұрын
@@mardhora I understand your pain. One girl in my class also did the same thing on me despite my peer appraisal not pulling her grades down. She end up spreading some rumors about me. It is horrible but her friends who end up grouping with her would understand your pain. I am sorry about the outcast situation and all i can suggest is to join a club/cca which allows you to make more friends there. I wish you all the best! Karma will surely bite them in the ass. The girl who did that to me got a gpa of 3.3 and probably even lower seeing how shit she did in 1.2.

7:15 i cant relate to this soooo much so quick story time i was in sec 2 doing a history project with a "team" in my class i was scheduled as timekeeper and theres 4 other roles typical group in sec sch uk all .. so ik these classmates are damn slack so i be nice to them la every part of the project it was about 1.5 weeks for 1 part of the project there was about 6 parts and the due date was like in 3 months .. so i just skip all the details cos dw make this too long but I've been through blueticks, group meetings that no one showed up for and they even ignored me because i kept pestering them (this was like 2 months in ) and no one had any work done .. so like in the end i finished it all by myself in like 3 weeks and had to present la then when cher called me to ask my group to present i stood up and plug in the computer to start to get ready for presentation then all my group mates stood up and stand beside me .. JUICY PART OF REVENGE so like i ask them loudly why are they standing beside me my cher was confused af what was going on even the class were like wtf then i started talking shit about how they ignored me, bluetick me and even missed out on group meetings then told them to go back to their seats and listen to MY PRESENTATION they all starting giving me the looks like im the one in the wrong .. so my teacher got the gist of the situation and before my presentation shouted their names and made them apologise to me. in class with all my classmates inside and they had to redo the presentation in 1 week or their getting a 0 they didnt do it so like all 4 got very low for their sec 2 mye results all were below 30%

Heres my advice for u: Dont go jc if u are not ready for a megaload of stress and stress and stress. Jc is not only physically tiring but its also mentally tiring. U might do well in j1 but u can totally flunk j2. U must be fully prepared if u want to go jc. Honestly all jcs are alright it doesnt matter because at the end, its not based on which school or which teacher. It all boils down to yourself. How hardworking u are, how resilient u are, how much more are you willing to go

Furthermore like they saic in the video, if u do go to poly, u have a ‘safety net’ -your diploma. Just know this but if u screw up your alvls and cant go to uni, your only route is to retake it privately or go back as a j3. Or some would recommend going to poly ( there are some courses for those who did badly for alvls ) which is honestly a longer route. So think wisely yea

another pov: if you’re still unsure of what you want yet (it’s honestly hard for even 19y/o to decide much less 16/17 y/o), jc is likely the way to go since it “buys” you the extra 2 years for you to think about which course you want to study...but you’ll have to actively think about this and preferably look for job-shadowing to get some experience/feel or talk to seniors/Teachers (you might think you like it but you might just get turned off by other aspects that you only realise it after you try it)... and when you’re decided, you now have a goal for A’s to work towards which is q impt because something to note is that not every course requires straight As so you’re not mugging blindly for unrealistic goals
