Welcome to @HealthyKidneyInc! In this video, we go over Polycystic Kidney Disease and Diet, and how cutting out sugar can slow Cyst Growth. This is a trending topic right now in the kidney disease community. Thanks for tuning in.
Polycystic kidney disease, also known as PKD, is an inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts develop mainly within your kidneys, causing your kidneys to enlarge and lose function over time. Similar to chronic kidney disease, this disease involves the loss of kidney function. These cysts are noncancerous round sacs that hold fluid.
The cysts vary in size, and they can grow very large. Having many cysts or large cysts can damage your kidneys and lead to a whole host of problems. These cysts are not solely limited to your kidney, and can grow elsewhere in your body such as in your liver. This disease can lead to serious complications such as problems with blood sugar, and even kidney failure.
In this video, we go over how changes in your diet can help slow cyst growth in PKD, helping you to hold on to your kidney function. We highly recommend cutting glucose out of your diet. The cysts in PKD are actually glucose dependent, so the the continuous supply of sugar in the high-carbohydrate, high-sugar diets consumed by many people just lead to further sac growth, and cutting them out can work immensely in stopping their growth. The next thing you can work as far as polycystic kidney disease is reducing the amount of carbs consumed in your diet.
In addition, it is optimal to eat a balanced and healthy diet to maintain healthy body and kidney conditions. A healthy body is able to fight infection better, and bounce back faster. Consider these diet dips for your PKD, and to your best kidney health everyone.
