Polygon is the number one bicycle brand here and they have been developing bicycles for more than 30 years... and the great thing is that the price of used Polygon bicycles has not dropped significantly... it is stable at 10% - 20% and it is rare to find cases of damaged bicycle frames here

This is right on the money. I bought mine in 2021, and I love it. Phenomenal value. I replaced the dropper lever right away. Since then, i cracked the rear rim and had to replace it, replaced the saddle, grips and tires. And I added clipless pedals, but thats just personal preference. Otherwise its still all original parts and riding beautifully.

I’d love to upgrade wheels. If I ever figure out this jumping thing, it’s high on the list. I really should have mentioned the low engagement hub in the review, but it’s be nice to have something better all around. I was looking at Nobl. What wheels are you liking?

I really want the Nobl TR35 with Hydra hubs. You can get a discount code for 10% off with a couple other KZfaqrs channel. Lifetime warranty, and crazy engagement. Speedvison has an aluminum set with Hydra hubs that are about $400 less and weigh the same. Not sure if a warranty with them.

Nice review, I have the same lever on another bike and do not have that slop issue. It looks like you have too much cable/tension play. Now I have recently upgraded IMO to one up droppers. I love how the cable knob just slips onto the actuator lever on the bottom of the post. Instead of fiddling with that barrel lock with tiny Allen keys have to make your tension adjustment inside the seat tube. I like how the open end of the cable to the lever clamps down like your derailleur. Also no more weak sealed internal cartridges that fade you can set air pressure like on your shocks. Love that bike it’s tall stack look because they did not chop the steer tube like on a specialized etc.

I've owned a polygon Vander N9. But I don't think the T8 will be the climber I'm looking for. thanks for putting your review out there!

I had my T8 for a year. Within a couple of weeks nipples came off a couple of spokes on the front wheel - BikesOnLine paid to get it fixed. A few weeks later another one came off and I bought new nipples and fitted it myself. At about 6 months the LH crank came off the spindle - I put it back and super torqued the retaining screws and had no more problems with it. At about 6 months I noticed that my rear wheel brake made horrible noises - eventually I worked out that the wheel axle spacer on the brake side needed to be adjusted. And around that time I found that if I pushed the bike backwards the chain would change gears on the cassette - I just left it. I sold the bike after a year - I was starting to ride really rough trails and wanted more suspension.
@SlowpokeShred10 ай бұрын
Curiously, what’d you go with next? I definitely think if gnarlier enduro style or Dh trails are you’re favorite style (they’re mine), something burlier might be the way! I’m gonna keep pushing and upgrading this thing for a while, but I can definitely see adding something beefier to the mix as I progress.
@cataplt11 ай бұрын
Like most of the responses, I also have a T8. I also got it in 2021 and paid all the money for it. I really truly do not take care of my bike. I ride in Phoenix AZ area. I run wax on the chain and Slime in the tubeless tires. I check my tires once every few months, wash it and wax the chain twice a year or so. I say this because it is possible I am to cause for some of the issues I have had. My rear suspension bearings locked up. Polygon offered to warranty them, but I had to take it to a bike shop.. I just bought a new set on Amazon for 20$ or so and pressed then in myself. I did the front fork lower leg service after about a 1000 miles of hard riding.... wow....what a difference. I found the brakes got hot and slipped pretty quick, I switched to Hard headed ram pads (first set was green, second set was blue) and upgraded the front rotor to 200mm, huge difference. On the first few weeks I switched to a Wolf tooth dropper lever, Bontrager seat, Evil bar and stem, Oval chainring (don't waste you money on this), and a few other odds and ends. 1500 very hard miles later, I still love the bike. I have no real complaints about it. I can out climb just about anybody (in very short bursts until my lungs give up). It is much more capable going down hill then I am.
@SlowpokeShred11 ай бұрын
You sound a lot like me. It really is killer. I feel like I can rarely blame a problem on the bike itself (aside from the dropper lever). I’ve got some new wheels on the way, and I’m upgrading the brakes similarly to what you did. I’m excited to see how the bike feels after that. Probably time to service the suspension too.

Great review - so thank you! I am trying to decide on a bike. Haven’t ridden for 5 years and said 2024 was the year I get back at it! I have been trying to cheap out. Almost buying the polygon D7. Then started looking at other bikes and now the T8. You mentioned weight. At my price point most are 31-34#. I ruled out the t7 for that reason. Do you ride tubeless? I don’t plan on doing a lot of really technical riding. I just want a bike that doesn’t bob when climbing, and is fairly neutral geometry- not overly stretched or geared for downhill speed. Some have told me the components on the d7 are good enough. But I have learned never to short change myself. I just don’t want a pig of a bike. I am not a big guy. Even on the fence between 27.5 and 29 as I am 5’7 and between sizes with my 29” inseam.
@SlowpokeShred6 ай бұрын
I really love the bike. If you live to climb and love the cardio, maybe a more XC oriented trail bike would be better, but I think this thing is quite capable. I’m 6’3” and went with the XL, but after riding a L T7 a bit, I think I could have gone either way. The larger XL definitely gives me more confidence when it gets steeper. If you think you’ll get into jumping though, the smaller bike might be more fun. Good luck. Reach out if you have more questions. Sorry I missed it up until now.

It’s a great bike. I upgraded many parts over the first year. Started with tokens in the fork and shock. Mine now has completely new Shimano brakes, larger 203mm discs, pedals, Maxxis rubber, new wider saddle, grips. (I threw that dropper remote in the garbage before I ever rode it😂) I also bought that exact bar too! That only lasted 6mths then upgraded to OneUp carbon bars. Those RaceFace ones although rad lookin, were way too stiff for me. Got super sore hands / wrists. Hell I even paint stripped mine and powdercoated it. It looks rad. My BIGGEST thing was the cassette. I honestly think that Sunrace cassette is garbage. I wore gears 1-5 completely in 6 mths. I really like the bike though. Heaps of fun.

I’m thinking you go with an overforked 150mm Fox 36 and a Float X out back for the upgrade - it’ll get you down to 64.5 on the head angle and only down to 76.3 or so which will still be great for climbing but you’ll add travel and clearance for avoiding pedal strikes even better - if you wanna go all mtn/enduro with it as the hits get bigger

I wonder if there's ever a question of reliability when it's a polygon. As we say, Polygons are built like tanks. But maybe we're also a bit biased because we made friends with the people at the Polygon shops lol. Btw, how's the pedal bob? Kinda want to know what they've done witht he newer Siskius, I have an older D7 and man that thing has 0 antisquat and antirise which was crazy considering back then there wasn't a Siskiu T series and there were the Collosus T6 and T8. I have the Collosus T8 which has virtually no pedal bob and only has noticeable brake dive if you really jam the brakes while standing. But that one is definitely not a budget bike lol, its price when new would've been twice the Siskiu T8.
@SlowpokeShred8 ай бұрын
It really is a tank. I might be a bit bias, but we have quite a few in my circle of family and friends and they’ve endured. For pedal bob, I’ve ridden this bike so long now, I’d really need to spend some time on something else to give it a fair comparison. With that said, it feels very average on climbing efficiency and pedal bob. It doesn’t stand out positively (like the Ripmo I’ve ridden), but I also never really notice it. I never lock out the rear shock, but I do flip it to the middle “trail” setting often.
