Note: Thanks to viewer ‪@lestat23l‬ who let us know that there was a price increase in the Polymega for the Base Unit + Wireless controller from $449 (at the time of making the video) to $549. A pretty substantial $100 increase. It seems that the Deluxe Bundle also increased, but we do not have evidence of the previous pricing. Cool video! I ordered my Polymega back in June of this year. I’m sure it’ll be a while before it ships. Videos like this keep me hungry while I wait. Do you guys keep it plugged into an HDTV or old school CRT?

HDTV. The CRT function is in beta and we haven't had the chance to test it.

Thanks for a more independent review of this. Also noticed from titles highlighted and titles shown, you guys are fighting game enthusiasts at minimum. As fighting games tend to be the game type to feel any oddities in emulation due to there very tight frame timings, Since you didn't mention anything in particular about that I'm guessing everything felt great in your books. Glad to be a future owner of this insane thing.

At best, we are casual gamers. No frame counting for us, just a lot of button mashing and crazy gameplay. Other people more knowledgeable than us indicate that there is very little lag with the Polymega, especially if you use wired controllers. They state about 1-2 frames of lag and that it's barely noticeable. So I think you'll be fine playing your retro fighting games. Hope you get yours soon and thanks for the comment.

Made my purchase in early 2021 was told I would get it in the fall on 22 still waiting for it, was going to get another one for my brother after I got mine.

We did notice that the Base Unit + Wireless controller price changed from $449 (at the time of making the video) to $549. A pretty substantial $100 increase. Now the Deluxe Bundle the one that's $800, seems to have also increased in price but we don't have evidence of it's previous price. Thanks for letting us know of this. We will be making a note in the description of the video.

I swear the price of the polymega base unit used to be 200 something (not including taxes and shipping) for preorder when this console first got announced. I wish I would have screenshot it. Hopefully this is only due to the chip shortages/pandemic and the price goes back down to at least 300. The price is what is holding me back and the point that they rarely communicate with the customers. Looking forward to buying the base unit, NES module, N64 module, and SNES module. SNES module may come later for myself to buy🤷‍♀️

Goodjob very well done explanation. I don't own a polymega but I'm curious how well usb, 2.4ghz, and bluetooth controller work on it.

2.4 GHZ tends to be faster than bluetooth so we recommend that, but honestly both work well.

I still don't understand how you would hook up to a CRT? There is no AV OUT. 🤔

You would need an HDMI to Composite or RGB adapter. Then change video output to 240p.

The Polymega caters more to the physical retro game collector. It brings back those feelings of nostalgia: Opening the CD case, placing your game in the console tray, and getting to read the game manual while it loads… All in a single console and very user friendly. Believe us, we love the Steam Deck and using Emudeck you can setup your retro gaming in no time, but that feeling you get from the Polymega is something the Steam Deck cannot replicate.
