I've found a great tool for making miniature things that require tiny squares! Do bake the lipstick and little pots after adding the final touches. Use resin in a well ventilated room and don't forget your mask for mica powders.

When working with miniatures, a handy tool is a fine pointed tweezers.

Thanks for the tip, I've got a whack-load of plastic canvas, now I've got ideas to use it!! I love how these turned out! Not gonna lie, I've got a love-hate relationship with UV resin; I love it, wish I could use it more, however have developed an allergy to it. So because of that, I've been searching for a super nice gloss to finish pieces, my favorite so far is Judikins Diamond Glaze; I believe it's for diamond paintings, I've found it's a super glaze for clay!!

Hey luv. Don’t those fiddly bits just drive you nuts? Lol i’ve actually found the easiest way to topcoat small pieces like this is to use another needle. I use it like a finger and press down on whatever it is I’m trying to topcoat, and then use another needle to spread the topcoat. Quilting needles are awesome for this because they can be quite large but still have a very sharp point, so you have plenty to hold onto. Boutonniere needles are another great option. I love these miniatures and I can’t wait to see what else you make! I think the ladies need some copper jewelry. LOL

Congratulations, you managed to make polymer clay look alive!...lol. I loved this video, as I am sure your other fans will. We love watching you with your humor, determination and indomitable spirit. It is a common joke among polymer clayers, "Remember the clay is not in charge , you control the clay." Theresa Salgato has one or two KZfaq videos that poke fun at the saying.....I'll find you the links when I get a chance. Just so you know you are not alone in that struggle. I think most people that work in miniatures use tweezers with different shaped long fine tips as extensions of their fingers to control the fleeing little beasties. (Sandartes) When applying resin, people use silicone doming trays so that spills drip below and away from the piece. Silicone is easy to clean up after resin hardens, just peel it off. (Jessama Tutorials) (LittleWindowsResin) Other people tape (low stick tape) masking, painter's or even washi tape upside down on a tile then place their piece on the up-facing sticky tape to stabilize it prior to applying resin. (Thinking Outside The Box) Just remember with tiny things, you want to have a stiff small work surface, small enough for you to lift it up to eye-level or rotate. It should also easily fit under your UV lamp or into your toaster oven. The less you have to touch the piece directly, the lower the risk of damaging it. Your work surface doesn't have to be oven safe, you can usually slide your piece off onto your oven cooking surface easily without having to touch the piece by hand if you have the right work surface and a tool like tweezers just in case.

All great advice, thanks!❤️ I do think I look more clumsy than normal in my videos, because I get pretty nervous! Oh, I am well aware of Teresa Salgado, she's a very close friend of mine... She runs a group called "HOP! Hooked on Polymer" on Facebook and I used to write a sort of column on there called "Tuesday Musings" 😉. I will check out the others but I have definitely watched some of them. I love SugarCharmShop. I haven't got a rotating surface to work on yet but putting my tile on one could really be useful! Good call! xx
@amysantics4u8183 жыл бұрын
@@UnrulyHousewife I am not talking about a lazy susan for rotating, I just mean a 3x3 piece of glass, acrylic, or tile that you can easily rotate. I often use my laminated plastic scraps or I cut the clear plastic that packages baked goods from the grocery store. Dried resin usually chips right off the plastic. I am sure you have something that would work. I forgot to mention, lots of people just use a toothpick for spreading resin. Don't be nervous, we all totally love you silly! Picture us all butt-naked watching your video.....lol you never know but it might actually be true after-all....we are all just humans.

It's like there are 12" in a foot... So something that is 3 feet high in our world is 3" high in theirs.
