@KawaiiMushroom1 oh dear you could sanding it off with a high grit sandpaper or you could try a perfecto knife and slice it off. Problem is once it sets it is like glass and very very very difficult to get off. You could try leaving it in a bowl of hot water for a couple of hours to soften it up first. Then sand off the gloss. After you get the gloss off ( after a good old sanding) blast the surface with a heat gun.

I've used the Sculpey brand (TLS) and achieved a soft satiny look, but maybe I'm not doing it close enough, or long enough. I'll have to go back and try again. I can't seem to find any Kato clay, liquid or solid, but I have plenty of Sculpey, Fimo, and Premo. I can't really justify buying more until I use up what I have... Very informative video, as usual.

Hmm I just cure my piece and after it cools, I coat it with Kato liquid clay and hit it with my heat gun until it becomes clear and shiny.

When should you actually use the liquid polymer clay? Should it be on every piece of jewelry or can you just leave the polymer clay natural? I am rather new to this and I was just wondering which would be the best for jewelry and earrings. Thank You!

kimmie lee Hi there. Sorry about the delay. I don't see why you can't use the heat tool. Give it a go. The heating tool l am using in the video is way to strong and used for removing wallpaper. It used to bubble the clay if l wasn't careful with it so if you are using a heat tool for crafting then it should be ok:)

@merryclicker Are you in the UK? If you are then try an online store called "clayaround" (google it) they sell 2oz bottles. You have to fan the heat gun like crazy if you go up close and watch out for bubbling. l haven't used the Sculpey brand yet, but after checking out a couple of blogs Kato also comes out with the best reviews. Hope this was helpful to you.

Hi, I just tried this method with the Kato Clear liquid and no matter how carefully I applied it, after curing, and hitting with the heat gun, some tiny little bubbles appeared. It doesn't seem that you had them on your pieces. Might you have a suggestion?

E Alter are you using a craft heating tool? You could be using g to high a setting or maybe you might be holding the gun too near the clay or for too long on a single piece. kato clay also seems to work better on clays cured at higher temps ie premium rather than fimo. Hope this helps

Guys it might be worth trying to hold the heat gun further away from the surface if you get bubbles. The heat gun also works better with clays cured at a higher temps such as premo

Thank you so much for your reply! No, from what I'd read it appeared folks said embossing heat guns/craft heat guns, didn't get hot enough; I ended up getting a Black & Decker heat gun. It has 2 temps: 750 and something else. I tried it again today holding it further away from the piece, it didn't get bubbles but it didn't get completely clear. When I put it closer to try and get it clear, it clarified but got bubbles. I think this is just too hot. (maybe, hopefully, I can return it!) Also, I am using Premo. Could you please tell me what is the brand of heat gun that you are using? Thanks so much for your help. Terrific video by the way! Sorry I neglected to say that before ;-)

E Alter just go to Michael's or hobby craft and get a heat gun for crafting. I use Dove crafts
