I'm 44 years old female very fair skinned from the middle east with multiple injuries over the years and work in the medical field. I was just diagnosed with PMR (based on signs, symptoms, and bloodwork... along with seeing Neurologist, Pain Specialist, Orthopedic, Cardiologist, PT, Psychiatry, and PCP !!) It took 5 years to figure out what was going on with my pain and stiffness. Not until I saw the Rheumatologist that I finally got the treatment (which I decided to do that myself since one doctor decided that it was Fibromyalgia because he couldn't decide what was wrong with me !) Too late, I had to go on disability because of my pain..and after 20 years in the medical field, I'm done with healthcare system altogether!

I think women most likely have had this more likely for at least 10 years prior to diagnosis. They are ignored

@ralanden Yup... it's their way of saying "nothing we can do !" But my Rheumatologist said "Bull S@#$%" and performed multiple tests and found out what was going on. I have been finally on methotrexate for about 6 months now, and finally seeing some improvements with my blood work. I'm still not out of the woods yet, but working on it daily: walking, water Aerobics, healthier diet, rest as needed, and light and some weight lifting as I can tolerate daily.

My PMR was cured when I stopped taking steroids and concentrated kn curing a leaky gut by changing my diet and avoiding things like vegetable oils, sugar and ultra-processed foods. I also began using olive oil and avoiding food containing lectins. I'm fine now but had 2 years of hell.

I know you are not supposed to consult Dr. Google lest you have every disease you read about.....BUT........I think I have this PMR and will be consulting my GP about it. I have all the symptoms, bilateral shoulder pain, trunk pain, fatigue, waking at night from pain, morning stiffness for a good hour, more when my drive to work is longer and I’m stuck sitting in one place, age 67, female, have been told I may have fibromyalgia, etc. My father had the same symptoms as do a sister, age 64, and a brother, age 70. I recall great grandma having pain in her shoulders so that she couldn’t pick up or carry laundry baskets or the baby. (She was afraid she’d drop him.) I will also get checked for giant cell arteritis as I have a heart murmur. There are also other autoimmune diseases in my extended family, RA, MS, and lupus.

I got PMR after my Covid vaccine in 2021. The symptoms were swelling of my feet,hands and neck. I went to my doctor and got steroids which relieved the swelling and burning sensation. But the severe depression that followed was the worst I ever experienced.

Hi. I have been on steroids for over a year. I put on weight and did not want to become reliant on them so weaned myself off them twice. However on both occasions the pain came back so had to go back on them. You have to be very careful and should realy only come off them on advice from a doctor. I went down one milligram a week to let my body adjust.

My mum has been referred to a rheumatologist for sudden unknown pain to rule out PMR . Pain first started in thighs the moved to shoulders R>L unable to lower lift upper extremities above head. R shoulder is slightly swollen. Pain also in groin area but again worse in R shoulder area. Pain sometimes awakens her at night and almost unbearable when attempting to get out of bed to use bathroom. Steroids were recommended but she has had bad side effects. She is changing her diet to anti inflammatory foods and avoiding food high in oxalates. Awaiting lab results to see if inflammatory markers are elevated

Auto-inflammatory diseases are almost always affected by diet. Consider an allergen panel test and reducing toxins and inflammation causing foods and beverages, such as soda, alcohol, processed foods, and things high in sugar

Seems like it's happening to the young now. I think mine started early 40s with mild neck should tension when I woke thinking I slept wrong or my pillow was the culprit. Had lower back pain and hip pain while sleeping. Weakness and fatigue. What bothered me most was that. Thigh weakness. I think the sun or covid jab is causing it now. I found excedrin and not sure which is helping me alot , the curcumin with boswella or ashawandga but with those herbs I don't have to take excedrin anymore.

@ClinicalPhysio
@ClinicalPhysio Жыл бұрын
This wholeheartedly depends on speed and success of treatment. If you look online, sources will suggest from a few days to a few years depending on how quickly someone is able to be diagnosed and receive treatment… naturally this is a very unhelpful time frame, so if you are concerned about yourself I would certainly liaise with your Dr and see if you can be assessed

@wallyperson1 I would quite happily stay on steroids except they affect my diabetes and I now have very high blood pressure. Suddenly. I've have nevered suffered from high blood pressure. I'm trying to wean myself to a lesser dose (with the doctors) to see if it helps. My mother also had it for about 3 years.
