Finally, someone who recognizes how much Clay kills that drum set. He's the equivalent of the guitarists but on drums. And their bassist ain't no slouch either. Too bad both are so easily overlooked cause of how amazing the guitarists are.

Even when I am trying to learn something on guitar thats ridiculous like a dance gavin dance track, if I rock the bass part its normally much more manageable, not for polyphia, the bass part isn't quite as difficult as the guitars but its still mad difficult.

The double Clay combo. The Clay on the drums, a.k.a. a whole FL studio with every kit existent but with the creativity and snap of a real human being. The Clay on the bass, a.k.a. the only bassist on a progressive rock/metal band that you can ever pay attention to the lines and how he actually keeps the groove of the songs.

As a bassist, Clay is a legend. He adds exactly what ever song needs and amplifies his boys by holding down the groove. He doesn't have to hit 500bpm craziness but he definitely has chops and great timing.

I hadn't had the hair on my arms lift from a new band in over a decade until I started getting a taste of this Polyphia vibe. Starting with the song G.O.A.T. on 'New Levels New Devils' where I started exploring their Body Of Work, and right through this whole album. There isn't a song that is just filler, every song is an integral piece of the Polyphia story. When I heard the first single of of this album, 'Playing God', it was so good that I was confused as to, "... why they would put their best song out first??? ..." I DIDN'T TRUST. I WAS WRONG. I didn't understand how much more talent there was in store. Single after single ... as good or better than the last, to the point that we can't even collectively pick a favourite. This song special. For sure. Every time I hear it, I find more ... another melody, a strategically placed harmonic ... a poly rhythm just below the surface that you can train you brain to isolate ... it's like the song that keeps on giving. But this is the same as with every Polyphia composition. I love this band more than I can coherently express with words.

Nuts, right? Hard to explain. Their level of production is unreal. Hearing songs that put a nasty look on your face as you bob your head to sounds that almost shouldn’t sound good and then you look and see, yep, they called it nasty. Lol. I couldn’t explain in words the amount of appreciation I have for all the talent and hard work that goes into every piece and it’s been so cool to watch them grow with each piece. I reacted the same way when I first heard these guys, my mind was blown 🤯 i was like 😯 oh sh*t, they didn'tjust set the bar, they took the bar and set it up on the top shelf where the kids cant get it 😄 I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a band cus some of the stuff these guys play is just straight up nasty! you can't listen without making a face, with how powerful it hits you! As far as this video not trending as well as the other singles off this album, I attribute that to the fact that it came out at the same time that they also released visualizer videos for every other song on the album so KZfaq was absolutely flooded with multiple videos at the same time which is a big no no for pushing specific videos in the algorithm. All of their other videos had at least a few months in between each one to grow and be pushed by the algorithm all on their own. They also released a guitar playthrough version of this song which has a superior guitar mix IMO which makes it the version of the song that I've personally watched the most.

Funny story, i actually heard them because of Jason Richardson feature in Aviator. That was my first time ever hearing them. And at that time i was there for his solo and his solo alone. Then i heard Champagne. Then i heard James Franco. Because it was 2016 i heard Crush and Amour. And i saw that it wasn't Jason Richardson feature that kept me going there. Was the foundation underneath it. These guys have evolved past guitar extraordinaires. They are great musicians, point period. Their composition is so far out there. With them there really is no limit. They will keep you guessing and they will always surprise you.

As someone who’s listened to them since Inspire, the growth these guys experienced during Covid was absolutely astonishing. As good as they all were they ALL got exponentially better during Covid at precision, playing together, and creative exploration. They’re going to be the biggest band in the world in 5 years with the creative ability and technical ability they all have, mark my word. The fact I can say that as confidently as I am about an instrumental band blows my mind.

The one thing that not many people recognize Polyphia for outside of technique, melody, and songwriting/production, is their ungodly transitions throughout their songs. Those transition are so perfectly smooth that majority of people don't notice it and it retains your attention even when the song itself shifts into a whole ass different gear or playstyle. It just keeps your attention throughout the entire song without interruptions. Its very genius of tim and his producers to do that.

(regarding the song) i love it when they bring in some chunkiness with the guitars... i had to give lil west's verse a few listens before i began to enjoy it... that is simply because i've been burned out on simile rap for a LONG time... but i do enjoy it now, and so the song has moved up in my list of favorite polyphia songs. (personal thoughts) the only instrument i've ever put any effort into learning is guitar... but over the years (im 38) i've become more of a fan of drums and bass... with that being said, i don't understand why "the Clays" don't seem to get as much attention as Tim or Scottie (not to take anything away from Tim or Scottie... they're absolutely incredible to hear/watch)... but after watching Clay G. and Clay A. in their solo playthroughs, i don't understand why there aren't more reaction videos on them. Regardless of all that... fantastic video as always, Too LIT!

Lol the song name is pronounced ky-mare-uh (it’s weird to pronounce anyways haha) it’s basically a lion with a goat head protruding from the back and a snake as the tail. It has all sorts of different variations, but I think that’s the main one.
