I just bought this since it's half price for owners of Reason 12 till the end of the month (Apr 2022), but I'm not actually as impressed as I thought I'd be. I wish there was an option to make the sequence longer than 16 steps, without having to jump to another variation. It's one thing for drums to be in a 16 step loop, since they're all typically one-shot samples but for melody loops with held notes, the whole thing can easily span longer than 16 beats (and setting it to play back at a slower speed feels cumbersome and unintuitive). Also, if I record in some nice chords from a sequence I've discovered using Scales & Chords, it records each note individually, but isn't smart enough to recognize that I just put in a chord, meaning I have to delete all but the root note, and then adjust the Height parameter to get the chord back, if I want to try out this player's variation and arp functionality. It's weird - I really thought it'd be more powerful than it is, but I'm seriously considering asking for a refund, and maybe getting Quad Note Generator instead... EDIT: OK, I've been making music all day, and I'm actually kinda digging the Polystep tbh. The fact that it has a few built in ways to go through the variations is actually quite cool, and I enjoy the strum and arpeggio options cos it helps make variations interesting. Weirdly though, there's no Test Variation button, so if say you're editing Variation 2 and have the Auto Switch set to anything except Off, if you wanna play back what you just did, you have to turn Auto Switch off and *then* hit Start. It's not a huge issue of course, but it's a weird omission since testing these loops is the name of the game. Anyway, I made a tune I'm digging on using Polystep, so I think it's worth the on-sale price now.

These tutorials are great- super helpful as I readjust to the Reason workflow. My last version was Reason 5 10 years ago. Feels so good being back. An aside: what's the rack that flashes colors with the Joker you've got in all your videos?
