Basically my experience and tips about using pomade's when having curly hair.. Its always a different experience because curly hair always acts different. I also made a mistake its "FX texturizing dirt- not paste". BTw its also a good idea to have your hair cut correctly to ensure you have plenty of hair up front to slick..

This was EXACTLY the video I was looking for. Thanks a mil, man. I've been growing my hair out and have tried several types of pomade, to no avail. None have been able to control my hair. I have very wavy Afro-Caribbean hair. I just ordered some Layrite and Suavecito (both in firm hold formulation) and will try both.

finally someone brings up curly wavy/hair for pomps! I used to use murrays and royal crown but made my hair even more curly. Suavecito firme worked for me not perfectly made my hair straight but well enough to hold a pomp. I live in las vegas, basically the desert so I know what that melting gushy shit feels like with a pomp.

This is actually really good to know! I was wondering what was making my curls stand out. I actually really like the curliness, gave me a whole new look. However, I will have to look into buying that other stuff since I do want to be able to pomp it up sometimes.

chachicharms Hey got a question. I have really curly, thick hair that makes any styling beyond basic combing practically impossible. I like to style my hair in a comb over kinda like George Clooney to give it that clean sharp look, but not to the point where it looks like a mold on top of my head. The problem is when my hair dries, it goes completely outta whack especially in the front. Is this what the pomade is for? Which pomade would you prefer? Thanks.

Great video brotha. I completely agree 100% with you on everything you said. I will say there is a petroleum product I dig a lot and its Dax wave and groom. Stuff works like a charm, and its only like 3-4 bucks tops. It won't make your hair super straight like layrite or suavecito but it will make your hair really really manageable and easier to work with. Another product which I think is better than layrite is shiner gold. Only downside to shiner gold is that's its around $15 for 4oz of it.

Just put on a hat, beanie, hair net or anything that is tight or fitted close to the top of your head. (Not the sides) Then just take it off when your hair drys. Simple. DON'T EVER STRAIGHTENED IT THOUGH!

What pomade should I use if I've got curly hair (very similar to yours except longer) and want to straighten it out? Not necessarily a pompadour and I also realize that it's unfair to expect it to fully straighten. I just tried Nu Nile (petroleum based) and it looked good when I put it in, but it didn't hold well...just loosened after a couple of hours and lost the slickness and started to curl. Thanks for your help.

As a guy with thick and wavy curly hair, I always get frustrated when i see guys with normal hair get to do nice Mohawk or pompadour while my hair just can't stand straight for 10mins with water-based pomade. But then I realized i dont need to try that hard afterall. As our curly hair always have natural pompadour curling up. just look at James Franco natural wavy hair, he's a lady killer. Yea truth hurts, most of us cant get straight pomp without curly bunch sticking out even with best pomade, while some are lucky and managed to. My tips is don't spend too much money on pomades, find the most recommended one and there you go. Consider ourselves lucky that we don't go bald.

I agree 100% i made this video a while ago and i too find myself using DAX and Murry's again because of the hold a true value.. Im actually lucky enough to be able to do a pomp but its not about that at all.. At least we have our hair and thats always good enough. Very good comment my friend thanks for sharing. I love layrite but the price isn so high i find myself straying from the product..

Hey man! Great video! I have wavy hair, not too curly, but I also can't get that pompadour look perfect. I'm trying to style it like Johnny Cash and I've seen pictures if his hair and his hair isn't straight, it's kinda wavy like mine. He used Royal Crown, and I'm using it as well but I can't get that same look. My hair forms a lip in the front due to the natural wavyness. My hair is almost feathery, isn't thick at all, even though I'm 20 years old lol. Anyways, my hair in the front reaches between my eyes and nose, I don't know if it's the length is too short. Please, give me your suggestions! Cheers :)
@chachicharms
@chachicharms 10 жыл бұрын
Length is perfect my good man.. Your hair just is not gonna do it like that. You might have to get something thicker like Dax wave and groom.. Royal crown is just too soft.. I love Shmiere the THICK ASS ONE... try that.. I can not do pomps my hair is too curly..

I have wavy hair. It isn't borderline curly but it's wavy to the point that I get a small pomp naturally. I've tried suavecito(normal strength) and so far it has worked fine. It smells manlyish, goes in smoothly(I don't struggle to put into my hair), and the hold lasts for the entire day. But then again I don't do anything strenuous throughout my day and it's still winter here in Chicago. Lol the tables might turn when the humidity settles in.

DUDE I feel your pain.. IF I have good length in the front I can pull it off.. But I normally part my hair with a minor pomp.. I find blow drying in the direction you want it and then adding a little bit of product works best. If you want shine just add a thin layer of royal crown. I also like using got2be glued but be careful because it flakes if you play with it to much after appling.

What I do to get rid of the curls is I slick my hair back when it's wet, then I put on a tight fitting hair net and let it dry. Makes it way easier to have a nice straight look.

hey dude, so i dont want to slick back my hair, i wanna get a messy straight look with pomade , not necessarily stick straight but a clean tousled look think of james franco hairstyle wich in he keeps a clean relaxed curls , ps : i have a curly hair like yours , so how to do it and what pomade to use ?
@chachicharms
@chachicharms 9 жыл бұрын
Mehmet Turki OK thats a compound question but i will try my best... I guess the question here will be humidity. Okay if you want a messy look take a shower slick it wet and put on a hair net.. Let your hair dry and then take it off and your hair will straighter. then you can apply some water based pomade has to be thick. Just put a little bit ans you sculpt. Too much and that bitch will curl. Thats about the best advice i can give. If you sweat or get that head too hot.. There goes your hair. Thats about the best advice i can give other than blowdrying your hair first. Cheers good luck to you ,.,.

if you want to keep your curls try layrite.. It will hold and wont flake. Or you can just start trying different pomades and see which one is really works on your hair.. The trick is experimenting and finding which one is right for you.. Its a long journey but to hell with gel.. Gel is weak and is terrible produces flakes..

It never gets bone straight. Layrite works best but make sure you get the extra hold one. I always end up with waves but they look smooth you know? I dont really mind it- if you want to get it straight your gonna have to straighten it out. No shame in that man it is all about what you want. If you wanna relax it let me know ive done it before and i can offer tips so you dont make a fatal mistake.
@chachicharms
@chachicharms 11 жыл бұрын
Oh dude i forgot the most important part --- YES you can use pomades after you relax but get some layrite and your hair will look amazing.. Cheers man there aint no shame in relaxing your hair dude. As long as your happy then do it; it takes a lot of time off getting ready and makes your hair more manageable. Just try not to fry it and always relax the new growth and take it easy on the already straight hair. Lots of conditioner will help you avoid over-processing..

Alright dude straightening your hair is not expensive at all as long as you do it yourself. Buy a children s relaxer if your hair is not real kinky. Tip 1# DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR FOR DAYS BEFORE YOU RELAX. You want your scalp dirty and your hair greasy. Just trust me on this.. If you know a black girl tell her to give you tips they are masters. 2# when your hair is straight avoid shampoo.. you dont really need it unless you roll around in mudd stick to using straight conditioner.
