6/26/24 Important Note: My God, I just heard the news from Ponce that there were three separate shootings where many young people died overnight. God rest their souls. I pray for their families, friends, community and Ponce tonight. Just wanted to clearly state that this video today was a massive and horrific coincidence. I had this video scheduled for the past few weeks to publish this morning. -b

A walk around the outside of the Museo de la Masacre de Ponce on Palm Sunday, 2024, which is currently closed due to Earthquake damages.
Let me tell you about the day that a US imposed Governor ordered a massacre of peaceful citizens on Palm Sunday:
(The street I am standing on is where these horrific events occured: Calle Marina & Calle Aurora)
The Ponce Massacre: Palm Sunday, March 21, 1937
A peaceful march organized by the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party to commemorate the abolition of slavery and protest the imprisonment of their leader, Pedro Albizu Campos, turned into a police shooting ordered at the direction of the United States imposed Governor.
The governor who ordered the Ponce Massacre in 1937 was Blanton Winship.
Winship was a U.S.-appointed military governor of Puerto Rico at the time. An investigation by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights placed the blame for the massacre squarely on his shoulders. He was ultimately removed from his position as governor in 1939 due to pressure from the U.S. Congress.
Casualties: 19 civilians and 2 police officers were killed, with over 200 civilians wounded. Many of the dead were reportedly shot in their backs.
The Ponce Massacre is considered a defining event in Puerto Rico's history of struggle against U.S. subjugation.
