Beautiful transformation. It makes you think though, the fish were spawning like crazy in the pea soup aftermath. Although it may have been the giant water change after the pea soup. Then gently swimming though the crystal clear water in the end. Certainly more appealing to the human eye. Excellent work, the owner should be very happy!

@@Red.Scapes well thank you, I did the pvc pipes, slits in the with a 6” snorkel for the clean out. My pond has limited space since a cement patio is built around it and I don’t have the yard. I have a pressurized filter, and pump/skimmer with both leading to the plant bog with the pvc, pvc snorkel and crates /rocks as the secondary pond cleaner. My pressurized filter has a uv light so I don’t have to worry about pea soup water. I use to have only the pressurized filters so added the bog in a 150 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank. Someday when we move to more land I will have what you did, instead of the skimmer have an intake bay and plant bog within the pond. Love what you did! So agree in the Aquascape prices and love your alternatives diy! Great sons to help! We had 4 girls! 😀

I still buy the Aquascape stuff. With the price of labor it's actually cheaper to buy and not have to spend hours making this up on site .. just another way to look at it. Not hating
@Sea-cucumber11512 сағат бұрын
@@cessnadiego maybe but the snorkel for the pro snorkel and centipede is $600, so even if you go for smaller ones those crates they use to fill the space and keep the rocks above the centipede the smaller crates are $53 have you seen those larger ponds you can use 10-20 of them or more for larger ponds - those milk crates which are essentially the same thing are free to $7-20 depending on size. Walmart sells a smaller version if you don’t need large ones. The snorkel is essentially a pvc pipe. There is no way it’s worth it unless you have money to burn. You don’t do anything to the crates to fit unless one was too big, the pvc snorkel just needs a cap, and elbow with cap at the bottom so you can attach some smaller pvc pipes with some elbows and slits in them. Any other time I would agree but it was so easy and with a little glue and essentially some elbows with caps and a hack saw to make some slits it was incredibly easy and was so worth the time! Anyone can do it. Yes the crates don’t have tops but when flipped over and zip tied down they don’t move! Not hating either I absolutely would choose the aquascape products if money was no object but when I saw I could spend a fraction of the money for the same results it’s a no brainer for me! My husband would have balked at spending that much money for plastic that is easily replicated. Now if it was like “Prime” by seachem . Well then I would agree only the name brand, but not when it’s just because they have a captive audience and are the only ones making the product. So I see your point I just hate wasting money on something that absolutely doesn’t work any better! I could see if it took forever to make but it didn’t we did it in a couple of hours or even less!

They were using the old liners as ground protection. I mean I don’t know why so many, maybe they kept having leaks. Dogs running on them? Oh probably because they didn’t seal like you did so water would work itself back via pressure or algae and leak underneath so they would just add another one.
@stevenxu2833Ай бұрын
Very nice job! Just curious- why did you build a false bottom for the intake Bay? What's the purpose of those crates underneath?
@Red.ScapesАй бұрын
It helps if part of the water stays underground away from the sun. Helps regulate water temperature as well. It's the way intake bays are designed. Thanks for watching!

Question : since the rocks are directly under the sun, they will heat the water and algeas will grow back ?!! Has for the surrounding, the grass will grow until the edge of the pound and there is the risk of cutting the membrane while cutting the grass ?!
@Red.Scapes2 ай бұрын
If you have good water circulation and an established ecosystem with enough water plants, then alge won't thrive. As far as the sides around the pond, as I said in the video, they were planning to build a walkway/patio and also plant some bushes and plants all the way around. Thanks for watching!

@Red.Scapes23 күн бұрын
The fish have a tendency to mess around with the plants, pull them, try to eat them, and so on. So they should be planted in pots in order to last. Also some (like water lilies) might be invasive and spread too much.Thanks for watching!

I watch them all the time! The problem here was they already had the ring of pearls look (this pond was initially done by others) and we tried to reuse whatever rocks they had on site since the owner didn't want to order more.. We did our best to break that round of pearls pattern by moving the stones around and not making a complete circle like they had before but that's the best we could come up with what we had on hand.
