I did the exact same thing to our pond, I cored it. *(learned it from watching you.) I found that when they built it, they pushed dirt on top of an old railroad bed that was put in around the late 1800's with rice sized coal shale. When I dug down about 8' I hit it and could literally see water flowing through it. I was amazed it took at least 60 years to work it's way through but the last 10 years or so, the pond could not hold its level, but this summer even as dry as it was, it stayed clear up to the overflow!

Thank you. Can't say how much i/we all appreciate the way you ended the video. 1-a recap of what you did. 2- pictures of before 3- pictures of after. Especially the drone pictures. Really have a much better idea of the depth when you were walking around the pond. Also the fact that you raised up the area about 18". When you were doing it, it almost looked like you were spreading it so thin. I know it takes more time to add all that to the video, but again, greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Chris and his paint brush ( the excavator ) painting a beautiful landscape, taking this and that away and painting over a muck of this and that and adding this here and that there, making what was a dull overgrown canvas of vines and bushes and trees into a clear somewhat smooth area all around the pond and as mother nature adds her touches of greenery all around here and there to finish off Chris's beautiful landscape that he created to turn into another one of his masterpieces . It will look amazing when it's all finished . See you later, be careful and stay safe and keep on digging and pushing and shaping dirt . As always, Jeffrey !!!

A shallow area for blue hills to nest. Bass nest deeper.. Blue gill like to have good light on,their nest. And gravel or sand bottom. Stock it with little blue hill this year and bass next year. Should be a great fishing hole in 4 or 5 years. Stocking with catfish takes awhile. If you stock it early with catfish they destroy the nests of the blue gills and bass. They are fun too catch but can take over a pond.

I gotta say, it took guts to risk cutting that cove after finding that vein of broken rock like you did. I would have skimmed over the old to get silt out, but actual digging would have had me sweating bullets and praying it did not hit that gravel again. Well done though. Looks like your usual masterful work. There is another way if that leak does not stop. Drain it dry and put about a foot or two of clay over that whole part of the front of the dam and out onto the floor as a clay liner. Just go a lot further than you would think to be sure to get beyond the gravel structure. Although trucking in good clay might be expensive.
@markpashia70672 жыл бұрын
I sure hope they take care of that now and never let it get like it was.
