In case you were unaware, one can get tire chains for snowblowers. They are designed to provide more traction on compacted snow and ice conditions. I don't know if they would damage the surface of the ice. The other thing you can do is install a snowblower impeller kit. This will throw the snow much further and prevent the chute clogging with wet heavy snow.
@willamettehops6 ай бұрын
Back in the old days, chains came with snowblowers standard.

Good Sunday morning everyone….thanks for the pond update. You had one heck of a workout clearing that ice. We used to do that where I grew up in Mass. Shovels & skates to make ourselves a hockey rink to play on. Nice seeing your son enjoying it too. Have a day
@jbbrown79076 ай бұрын
We always cleared our pond by hand. One time, we got about two feet of snow. We had not worked through the storm to keep our ice clear. One of our neighbors had one of those new fangled snow blowers. He got about a third of our pond cleared before he got too close to the dam, and the blower went through the ice.

You have a good water source, so I think the pond is still leaking (speaking from experience). But, small leaks often fill in with silt, so don't worry too much, it will most likely "tighten up" over time. It may even take a couple years, but it will get better.

Growing up in the 70's, we would clear the snow, cut wholes where the hockey markings would go, and then pump just a skim of water on the rink to make it glassy smooth. If you pump water on top, you can even recover from a small bit of snow being left on top.
@Chrispy93936 ай бұрын

Hi Adam. It is much easier for Anderson to slide, at his height, than for you at 6' 5". Too bad you had so little time to use the ice. In central Alberta, the weather was above freezing until Jan. 10th or so. Then, we had a week of very cold, down to -40 a couple of times. This week, highs will be +3 to +8 C. We have less than 8 inches of snow on the ground. This will not be good for farmers or wildfire risk. Weird weather.
@danbelden73546 ай бұрын
Nice work. Try adding a snow thrower kit to your snowblower it really makes a difference and will throw the snow pretty far. Garage Guy has numerous videos on how to install them. I have and it makes a huge difference.

Hey Adam, I think you should do an update on your Appalachian trailer and maybe how much you spent for it or the pros and cons of it and is it dual pin or what you like about it?

Idea for upcoming video. You and Doug could install a second stage impeller kit on the snowblower. It will improve your throwing distance 30-40%.

Looking good... Maybe put a few black zip ties at the foot marks for when you can no longer read your marks...I think notching the pipe a little to keep them in place better might help.
@ronaldferino34146 ай бұрын
I envied you out there with the snowblower I love running them. I told my daughter who got one this year that I find it almost therapeutic using one, she thought I was nuts But she lives in the Buffalo NY area and they got quite a lot of snow in the last storm and she kind of agreed. Sounds crazy but that's how it work for me. I think Anderson is on to something with his excavator it just needs to be a little bigger. Matter in fact I believe you're friend at Spicer Designs did something to that effect on his pond with his excavator.

Top video! Just a tip when it comes to the snowblower. Most snowblowers will throw the snow further straight forward or to the right due to the design og impeller housing and shute. All my blowers have always thrown the shortest to the left.
@HometownAcres6 ай бұрын
Never even thought of that but that makes perfect sense. Thank you for the tip

As a rule of thumb…it takes 10 acres of runoff to fill and maintain a 1 acre pond.
@EasyModeFishing4 ай бұрын
That looks like blackland or clay soil. The kind that sticks to your shoes and its like gum to get off. Should hold water extremely well. You need to get some grass to grow up to the water level of the pond so it isn’t as muddy when it rains.

*JUST SO YOU KNOW...* Your pond is leaking around your standpipe...just like I told you it would back when you spent all that money buying piping for it. Now that the cracks have formed from the freeze....the leaking water is erroding the cracks into larger cracks under increased hydraulic pressures. That and the heeving of the levy soil layers....you are leaking a lot of water in that standpipe area particularly. #MostExpensivePennsylvaniaPondEver
