Karthi's Vandhiyadevan is one of my all time favourite character of all time. Vikram and Aishwarya characters are amazing too. Everyone will start love them when the movie came.

The novel is the about the 🐅chola🐯 emperor. The author has involved some fictional characters on a real incident in the novel. Till now this book is one of the top selling books. Just read this book (5parts), you won't come out of the book utill you finish reading it.

I can give you a little details based on inscriptions. Prakash Raj - Sundara Cholan Vikram - Ist son Adita Karikalan Trisha - 2 child Kundavai (daughter) Jayam Ravi - 3 Son Arun Mozhi alas the Great Raja Raja Cholan. Vandiyadevan - A warrior and close friend of Karikalan (later becomes the Army's Chief Commander and serves for Raja Raja Cholan and his son Rajendra Cholan and he also marries Kundavai. This novel is based on their early stage of their life hence all this will not be shown in this story)

Such a nice reaction. Please let me summarize a few things about the novel and history. Ponniyin Selvan was written by Kalki Krishnamurthi in 1950-1954 and it has 5 volumes. It's a historical fiction. It's based on Chola Empire which was real. The Chola (Chozha) Dynasty is one of the longest reigned dynasties in the whole world. They ruled for about 1500 years. Cholas had the biggest navy in the world. They had more than 6000 warships, 6000 goods ships, 60000 elephants, 1000000 cavalries, 20000 doctors and about 15000000 soldiers in their army. They never lost a war. The Brihadweshar Temple in Tanjore (Thanjavur) was built in 1009 AD by Arulmozhi Varman aka Raja Raja Chola 1. He was given the name Ponniyin Selvan which means the son of Ponni. Ponni or Pennai is another name for Cauveri river. The Brihadweshar Temple was opened for the public in 1010 AD. It is one of the World Heritage Sites declared by UNESCO. This Temple is an architectural marvel by the Chola Empire. It was carved out from a single rock which stands more than 100 feet. It has been there for the past 1012 years. It's still preserved well. There is a crown portion on the top of the Temple. This rock alone weighs 83.6 tonnes (83600 kg). This Temple has no shadow even at noon. It is one and only architecture in this world having such a feature. Aditha Karikala Cholan is his elder brother. The Pandiya princess Nandini is actually a fictional character. In this epic, she went to the Chola Dynasty to destroy them. Hope this movie will create wonders on the big screen. 😊

When the Chola pitched up with around 60 000 war elephants. Did the ground shake? Asking for a freind.

Vanakkam! The opening fight reminded Gladiator, the scenes between Vikram and Vikram Prabhu, the sea shore fight in Sri Lanka reminded of Troy, the secne where Karthi was alone in the sea reminded of Life of Pai, the rescue scenes of Oomai Rani reminded of The Lord of the Rings. the fight sequence of Karthi at the Fort reminded of The Scirpion King. Apart from these things the characterization is well handled. The cinematography and the lighting is enjoyable. The costumes and the use of jewellery takes the audience to the time. Sure there will be orders pouring into many jewellery shops atleast in Tamilnadu. All the characters are well portrayed by the seasoned artists of our film industry. The background music and the songs are delivered well by A R Rahman. Well choreographed dances by Brindha. Lovely lines by the lyricists. Thank you Mr. Mani Ratnam- PONNIYIN SELVAN- Part-1.
