Yes she was happy but i can tell they weren't too happy about being charged for diagnosing and fixing her car. They say all you fixed is a wire... As if they expect me to charge $15 😒

@@themechanic6117 Well then they can always go back to their old shop and get ripped off some more! The problem is that they don't know nor do they understand the process and skill to "fix a wire". It's not just fixing a wire.

Dude, so happy I came across your video because I had noticed that I had misfires when I just happened to look at that section of a relatively new auto diagnostic tool I bought (XTool D8). Mine wasn’t as noticeable as the vehicle in this video but cylinder 6 for mine was high on misfires and cylinder 3 was getting there. I looked at my harness and sure enough mine had the same issue albeit I caught it before it got too bad but regardless the copper was exposed on at least five wires! I re-insulated each affected wire and rechecked for misfires and they are now gone! It’s clear to see that any Grand Prix will have this issue because they didn’t use any split loom protection in that area like they did in other areas. Everyone should check their harness and if it’s not already worn through it will be at some point. After fixing each wire I re-taped the harness and then wrapped it with spiral loom (much thicker) and taped the ends. It’s not going to wear through now. 😀 Kudo’s to your work ethic and troubleshooting skills on this one! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

You remind me of me when I started. I'm glad you found it and I hope you don't sell yourself short. I know it's nice to help others but you deserve to be paid for your time. The shop wanted to charge $1,200 for a tune up that obviously wouldn't have helped. The vehicle owner would of been out that much money so hopefully you charged somewhere close to the halfway point or more. Electrical repairs at dealerships start at 1-1.5k. this video is old and I'm sure you are laughing watching this now. Keep up the great work mech a nic

@@themechanic6117 you're more than fair, but I hope you take this advice, when you get older automotive work is not so nice to our backs, knees and wrists. Think about where you might end up when 50yrs old. You are definitely worth more my friend. On expensive fixes, it's ok to save the customer a couple hundred and they will be happy with that. If it was for family then $200 is a great deal. Momma always gets free work though lol

I just turned 36 and I'm already starting to feel it (back/knee pain) . Sometimes you have to learn the hard way about safety first. Now I always have hearing and eye protection on for every job . Years ago I was doing work for so cheap that I was working all day fixing cars and making less than minimum wage once I do the math. Again I learned from my mistakes and learned to not low ball myself or devalue what I do.

I sure did. My thoughts are... The pcm sees the "injector" firing but the oxygen sensor is reading lean so the pcm tried to compensate for that by adding fuel which raises the rpm....thats my guess...

They knew it was a wire. These shops are like drs. They only makeca good prophet treating the issue..not curing it. I just got another ep3(02 si) and they took my buddy to the cleaners on it. Replaced a bunch of stuff that it didnt need. I say "they fixed the shit out of it" 4k$ and they didnt even put it back together right. It had a blown intake manifold gasket(when i got it) the iacv was the worst i ever saw. They did the entire cooling system minus hoses( it didnt need any of it) the struts and passenger axle....they told him the engine was toast..its not. I have less than 100$ in parts...runs great and i just put in new injectors and a fuel line because they were old..it didnt need them. An intake manifild gasket and an iacv clean fixed the engine. I also rebuilt the brakes..pretty sure i watched your honda brake video. This damn si rear brakes. Glad to see you arnt a shyster.

Wow it sounds like they really gave him the beans! That sucks! Maybe the shop knew it was a wire like you said, classic case of trying to take advantage of people. Or they're that ignorant and really couldn't find the problem. Afterall they did put in a singke spark plug n wire on #4 . thanks for watching my vids , I appreciate it.
