We change our prop pitch to hopefully get more speed out of our pontoon boat with 50 hp Yamaha high thrust motor. We had some luck on propeller pitch changes on our dinghy so trying it out here.
In addition, some subscribers have complained about excessive wind noise in some of our videos, so we trial several options in hopes of reducing wind noise. The three options are a foam windsock, a “dead cat” and an external noise cancelling wireless microphone for our iPhone. Links to the products in the video are below:

I was chasing props on my 17 foot lowe bass boat. Guy at the prop shop smiled one day and said, Man if you want to go faster buy a bigger motor......lesson learned. Get the prop that puts the motor in the right RPM range and forget about it. LOL!

Tom... the pontoon is not designed to plane. Any speed over hull speed is wasting power and damaging your engine. And your new mike is indeed great!

New subscriber, enjoy your channel and the videos.I hope all the damage you got from the storm is covered by insurance.Enjoy your boat now, as you get older you will find a large boat is just to much to handle.I am in my seventies and had to downsize from a 35 foot to a 28 foot trawler and i am finding i have to get mechanics into do jobs i used to do by myself. At least where you are you can boat 12 months a year, so i can see why you left New York State.

If I leave the canopy down on my 20' pontoon with a 60 hp Merc, I get 23 mph on plane at 5800. With the canopy up, 19 mph at 5900. I stow it when we go over 10 mph. It helps to have an electric canopy to be able to manage it on the fly.

I think the dead cat might be the best option. Even though the lapel was the best for you voice audio and wind reduction, you ended up losing all your motor and background noise as well.

I agree. The dead cat is just so bulky and makes it tough to use phone. I think I’ll just use that when the wind is really bad.

I really dont mean to be that guy but i honestly prefer to hear the boat noise and wind makes it feel like im there…but majority rules though.

Owning a pontoon boat is not about going fast its about enjoying the ride with a bunch of people on board if you wanted to go fast you should have bought a tri tool. I owned a Sweetwater 24ft with a 90hp Honda engine and the best I could get it to go was 17mph but I wasn't after speed I was out for the enjoyment of having my friends and family taking a nice ride and seeing the sights. The microphone problem I can't help you with

Interesting, My 22 foot Bentley with 90hp yamaha does 23-24 mph
