WHAT i love studio ghibli and disney.. beauty and the beast, anastasia, mulan, hercules, and pocahontas will never get old. but same can be said for spirited away, ponyo, totoro, whisper of the heart, and up the poppy hill

I will try and watch Totoro again but Ponyo and Spirited Away still remain by 2 absolute favorite Ghibli movies....I got to watch SA in the movies in '02 ...who knew so many emotions would emanate just from watching an "Animated Film" a nieve though immediately after...22 years later, both the Japanese culture and empathic nature they have is so beautiful to me! I wish it was more prevalent here in the United States❤

I wonder if she really knows just how big this event is & she is the star! This is a really great experience and when she has her own kids/grandkids, she can make them watch Ghibli movies and tell them she sang Ponyo's song and was the lead of a whole orchestra❤️ She did a great job

My toddler passed away last year march 24th at 2:09 am. She was only 2 and had a congenital heart defect she didnt make it while in the ICU for recovery. We both loved watching PONYO endlessly. She would nag me to watch it with her. And we would sing along to this song. This song will always remind me of her and has a special place in my heart maybe 40-50 years it will hurt less. I can hear her singing thru this every time i watch this

Even though I still had only the Japanese vocabulary of a toddler at the time this came out on DVD, in my opinion, the Disney English dub didn't come anywhere near living up to the beauty of Studio Ghibli's original work in Japanese.

We just saw Joe Hisaishi conduct the National Symphony Orchestra at Wolftrap. He still looks the same. His music is incredible as always. His daughter (8 months pregnant) sang a couple of songs, though not Ponyo.

there is something emotional about knowing there are adults that decided to make their whole career for the well-being of children (I associate them thinking that they are our future generation or sth), while it could also be a healing space for adults (reminiscence, nostalgia, innocent, etc) I guess this could be applied to ghibli and disney, but seeing that ghibli also including children in their concert makes a difference I think

I remember watching Miyazaki’s films as a kid. I saw ponyo in theaters with friends for my 9th birthday. I don’t know why but watching this brought me to tears. Miyazaki is truly in every sense of the word, a genius. Thank you Miyazaki for filling my childhood with amazing memories and reminding me to never lose that childish wonder. Ponyo and your films will always hold a special place in my heart
