This may seem strange but give Gatsby an oatmeal bath. Our eskimo gets bad allergy rashes from a lot of things and we sooth it with an oatmeal bath.

I'm no expert or vet but I highly suggest feeding dogs a fresh/raw (high protein) diet. Research should be done before hand for better knowledge and understanding. But one thing is true is that it's more affordable(depending on dog's size), more nutritious and definitely more appropriate than the highest quality/priced dog kibble. If One is still worried about their dog's nutrition can also add vitamin/ oil supplements to the fresh food. If one wants to give their pets the best and maximize health should feed them the best, and that is fresh whole(human grade) foods. Food prep is more time consuming but the results are rewarding.

My dog had a similar problem so we switched him to vegetarian diet and he got a lot better. The doctor also said we could feed him meat he hasn't had before but switching him to a vegetarian diet was easier & a quicker fix than testing whether or not certain meats affected him. Plus surprisingly he loves his food and treats even though he's a VERY picky dog.

Dear Ryan my dog Amy is a shiba inu and that means dodge! I found her on the streets and she was 1 and she kept licking her feet so I spent a lot of time and money to find out what it is and the doctor here said she has an allergy problem and the older she gets the worse she gets now she is 3 years old and almost all her fur is gone her paws are itchy all the time the cute little puppy I used to know it's gone that's her and my profile picture when she was one and I'm really sad that she's not here with me I hope you read this Ryan

Ryen, I know it's after the fact, and Gatsby has been to the vet already, but for future reference, and to save on those hefty vet bills, you should buy the EQyss Micro-Tek Pet Spray 16 oz www.amazon.com/dp/B00061MP9C/ref=cm_sw_r_taa_TcE2xbDHR143N I'm a dog groomer (for almost a decade now) and this is one of the best products I've seen help with itching. They have a whole line of shampoos and conditioners also. I hope this helps and I also hope Gatsby feels better soon! ☺

You could always ask your vet about giving him some benadryl, I've been told to use it on my dog once when she got into a wasp nest and once when she had a reaction to something. You could also ask if hydrocortisone cream can be applied to the itchiest areas, though he'd have to wear the cone all the time to make sure he didn't lick it off. Hope he's feeling better soon!

Happy birthday to your grandmother, respect! My Tobi had a lot of allergies. Dry dog food has mites in it. I ended up feeding him only wet canned food, but I believe if you freeze the kibble it kills the mites. All a bit of a moot point since you've switched him back to the food he can eat. I hope G-man feels better soon.

Also, to calm his itchiness, you can give him fish oil and feed him plain Dannon yogurt. It helps soothe their little bodies.

My little Yorkie has allergies, we give him antihistamines when a reaction starts and until it settles down, we also soothe his skin with a warm water apple cider vinegar rinse once a week as well. Hope Gatsby feels better soon.

🐾It's nice that Gatsby has a soft and more comfortable cone, but my understanding is that Victorian collars don't stop paw liking. Have you tried socks for Gatsby? The socks ought not be too tight and should be changed frequently. Also make sure to get all the soap off him when you bath him. Are you still using baby wipes on Gatsby? If so, switch to baby wipes from Whole Foods because they have a lot less chemicals in their wipes.🐾
