✦ What are MAPs? ✦
'MAP’ is an abbreviation for Multi Animator Project. They are nonprofit animated videos set to music or scenes from movies/TV. The audio is spliced into individual "parts," sometimes paired with a script. Each part is animated by a different artist till the host edits them together into a finished video.
✦ What is Warriors? ✦
Warriors is a 2003 fantasy series about wild cats. It is still ongoing and has amassed a huge art/animation community with young and older artists alike. This MAP is based on events in the first arc. Warriors has also drawn rightful criticism from various Indigenous communities for its stereotyping and extremely poor handling of the “Tribe.” If you consume Warriors content I implore you to listen to and boost all Indigenous voices and educate yourself. Resources will be added the more I discover them/are released.
✦ What is this MAP about? ✦
Poor George follows grizzled Yellowfang as she watches her son, Brokenstar, become a tyrannical leader. She puts an end to his reign by blinding him and later poisoning him with yew berries. The MAP opens later on in her life as she stands over a dead Brokenstar. She vents to her close friend, Fireheart, wishing things could’ve ended differently. After a disturbing vision we look back on how everything unfolded. We see Yellowfang’s traumatizing birth, the murder of her estranged mate, and Brokenstar’s rise to power. A notable part of his leadership was his use of child soldiers - depicted here as a throne of dead kittens.

The part where yellowfang slashes broken star and she sees an image of him being a kit, it brought so much emotion to me. Imagine a mother having to slay her only child to protect herself and catkind’s home, she must’ve felt so awful. She would’ve been such a good mother to him if given the chance. Yellowfang was definitely cursed in many ways, her motherhood robbed from her, an abusive relationship with her only mate, exiled from her birth place and home, and dying in one of the most painful ways possible. I wish we could’ve seen her live longer in the books, by far one of the worse delt hands in the series.

Yellowfang wasn’t exactly a bad mother for blinding him. In the books, her blinding him was his chance, but once him and t(e other bad guys attacked that’s when she killed him with death berries. So Yellowfang wasn’t a bad mom for not giving him a second chance, because she did give him a second chance.

@@xhazelthecheetahx19 actually, they took him as a prisoner and that is when he got poisoned. The blinding part was when they attacked (he was going to kill both Yellowfang and Cinderpelt because he got into the medicine den)

A lot of people don’t recognize how sinister Yellowfangs situation was. She said herself “my punishment was not the two dying, it was him surviving” she had to blind her son to protect what was like a daughter to her, she had to KILL her son for the sakes of the clans, and long before that had to watch her son destroy her clan before leaving the very clan she loved. She deserved none of it.

I will never get over how Brokenkit looks so angry, just like in the books. He's never been at peace & I love how everything in this MAP looks that way. You really understand Yellowfang, she loved Raggedpelt & when her kits were stillborn she watched as her only son killed the one she loved. She had to end him, and that really sucks

I just read about Felidae on Wikipedia...it sounds interesting but at the same time reeeeeally triggering to me. I know lots of cats die in the Warriors books (I have read nearly all of them!) but none are getting experimented on...that would just take me places that I don't want to go.

This is probably the best Warriors MAP or MAP in general, that I have ever seen. Yellowfang still seeing him as a kit, the attack, everything. The end with Fireheart sitting with her makes it hurt so much worse. She probably saw him as the son she wanted.

2:40 this is one of the most brutal depictions of a warriors death I’ve ever seen, which is GOOD. It shows the east destruction, the frantic panic of trying to fight back, the brutality that is a violent death. This part especially stood out to me. Exceptional work. Edit: this entire map captures the true depravity of Brokenstars story better then any map I’ve ever seen. You can truly feel it. It’s all so raw. Grisly. Disturbing. As it should be. In every frame, in the music. This is one of the greatest things to ever happen to this community.

Amelia you are a god at animation! You made the introduction to Yellowfang and Brokenstar's story so amazing the way you animated it! Loved this MAP and honestly one of the best warrior cats MAPs I have seen! All of the animators did so stunningly and you can see how emotional this story is because of it. Loved this MAP and every single one of the animators did amazing in animating their part of this emotional rollercoaster

Now that the MAP is complete it is my time to rant. Before this is even premiered I can tell this will be one of my favorite MAP's ever, simply because of the song. Poor George is one of those songs where you can put it on during a car trip and everyone will sing along, even if it is the first time they are hearing it. It is just that powerful. I appreciate this song so much so I can't put it into words how much I know I will love this MAP. Huge support for bread cat and every single participant that worked on the project, major kudos for your hard work and it is finally paying off!

I have an au where they cant do anything because starclan has a leader, and all that “starclan has no leader” is because they dont want the cats to worry about them having a very evil leader. And also since no one revealed who teached ashfur to posses cats, well in my au the leader thought him to, because he can.

And what’s sadder is that Yellowfang treated Fireheart like her own son and although she was grumpy to him (which is understandable cause what she went through before she met him) but she loved him and when she died from the fire. You can feel the pain both from both sides.

THIS IS AMAZING and Brokenstar is honestly presented as so terrifying here!! The way he kills Raggedstar so brutally and then laughs, the pile of dead kits at his paws... honestly gave me chills. He's such a terrifying villain who was extremely angry and brutal throughout his entire life. And yet, you can also see how much it pained Yellowfang to blind him, and then to kill him. This shows the relationship between them really well - I haven't even read Yellowfang's Secret but this honestly hit me so hard

Ah man, I loved Yellowfang's secret, but honestly I just found it mostly funny because of some of the inconsistencies. Ex: Shrewclaw and Barkface being represented as apprentices while Talltail is a warrior when they're older than him. Or Brambleberry introducing Mudfur to the other med cats as Mudpaw when he was really a senior warrior when he decided to become a medicine cat

@@rowanheart8122Oh hah I didn’t even notice the broken character time-lapse, I read her book before Crookedstar’s Promise and Tallstar’s Secret. Also, Foxheart was originally male and wasn’t as young as Yellowfang! He was right under Raggedpelt in the allegiances

I love how at the end, in the credits, the plants that is right in front of the camera is yew, the one that Yellowfang used to kill Brokenstar, and how Brokenstar stands behind the branches with deathberries. What a nice detail Also congrats to all the animators who made this map, everyone did an awesome job

Everything about this map was gorgeous, I got chills at the end, when the battle was going and Brokenstar was standing on the pile of kits. Every scene with Brokenstar was gruesome and painful in so many ways and it was such a roller coaster of emotions. This map is by far one of the best I’ve seen, and the animators potrayed everything gorgeously. The ending scenes gave me chills, amazingly done everyone. Amazingly done.

Yellowfang’s story is the most depressing fucking thing I’ve ever read and watching this after literally just finishing her book makes me want to crumple up and d i e. Poor Yellowfang. She deserved so much more than that. Everyone she loved that was in Shadowclan, even her own parents, turned against her. She was blamed for something that was false but the whole clan didn’t notice that the cause of the bloodshed is their own damned leader. Yes, there were people that disagreed with him, but they did nothing to help Yellowfang. Even fucking runningnose said at one point that it was good exercise for the kits to do battle training. Hell, a kit broke his own neck battle training with his sibling because they aimed wrong. Ok now I’m done rambling. Yellowfang is my favorite character and no one will change my mind 💙

This was absolutely STUNNING- one of the most emotional and clever projects I’ve ever seen- I love how the song and visuals all built up to the dramatic ending, then there’s the quiet outro, nothing but yellowfang sitting alone with the sound of rain. Really an astounding project, everyone who helped with this did an amazing job and was a part of such a cool project

this is incredible - so many scenes that send shivers down ur spine. when raggedstar is fighting for his life, when yellowfang is climbing the pile of dead kittens and ESPECIALLY the end scene where brokenstar evaporates like oh my god that was beautifully horrifying

You can really feel yellowfangs anguish in a later scene in this. Makes you wonder how strong she had to be to not turn into Mapleshade and let anger take over. She's just a grumpy lady.

Visualising Brokenstar's actions definitely has more impact than the books had. This was wonderfully done, the MAP flowed well and made the narrative easy to follow and the atmosphere of each segment in regards to art direction and colours was just gorgeous! I'm so excited to see this project complete and will definitely be watching this heaps :D

It truly turned out so incredibly emotional and visually perfect and it does so well presenting the story aspects that even I who haven’t read the arc understands what’s happening perfectly!! Everyone did an amazing job I was in awe through the whole thing

I can't stop thinking about this map, the absolute raw PANIC of all the cats scrambling to escape each other, and poor Yellowfang witnessing it all. It's truly horrific and everyone did such a good job at depicting these characters!!

Yo, when I first watched this map the pile of dead kittens seemed so shocking, but the more I rewatch the more I realize its actually such a good symbol of Yellowfang and Brokenstar's relationship. Like, her son who she so much just wants to see as that helpless little kit she desperately kept alive after losing the other two grew up to become a tyrant who would build his empire's throne atop the bodies of innocent children. Yellow having to scale that mountain of bodies, crying out to her son as he ignores her and laughs maniacally in her face is such a powerful representation of her having to face the reality of what her child became. I can only imagine how hard it must be for a mother to grapple with that, to see your child grow into a murderer preying upon other helpless children, hurting mothers just like her. Her kit's life cost that of so many others. And that perspective of Brokenstar's tyranny through motherhood is so key to this map, it's beautiful!

I really love how the tension ramps up and the visuals get more intense with the music before it breaks almost like a sigh of relief at the end, it was such a good effect? And the shot with Raggedstar's death, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it quite like that, less as a fight and more like the unexpected murder than it is, it's such a desperate scene. THIS IS A V GOOD MAP GOOD WORK, EVERYONE!

It's amazing how the warriors fandom has progressed. I got into the fandom back in 2009 and the videos on youtube were mostly made on MS paint, and seeing all of the artists today and the way the animations have improved is so awesome

I WAS PHYSICALLY SHAKING BY THE LAST PART OF THE MAP. no MAP has done that to me before lmao, shows how amazing this whole video is!!! a thing i like is the way the colours become saturated with red at 3:30 to fit the change in the music, it does a fantastic job of showing how he's really crossed the line at that point, with forcing kits to fight in a battle so yeah I LOVE IT

There are so many moments I adored in this, but I wanted to come back to mention how much I love the detail of the deathberries being in the close left-hand corner of the screen during the credits, and then when we see Brokenstar’s ghost, they’re right in front of him, implying that as we watch the credits, we’re in HIS point of view watching Yellowfang behind the branches. Idk if that was purposeful, but I loved it so much, it was a nice touch at the end :)

oh my god. this destroyed me. every part of this map was so emotional, it left me in tears, like no other map has done before. the writing, the designs, the pacing… i was in awe. i’ve been one of those people who’ve been waiting for this map to be finished a couple months after the original map call, and everyone did absolutely amazing. i could watch this again and again. the moment when brokentail attacked his father was literally horrifying, you could literally see how much raggedstar was struggling to live. oh my god. i was terrified. those animators put such good work into portraying that. and yellowfang overcoming the hill of dead kits. it shocked me so much to see her struggle to overcome her only son, who she loved only to be given so much hardship. that’s her son. no matter how much of a monster he was, that was her son. all of these other parts were amazing too. this entire thing put me through such shock. i’m so happy that this is finished! great work to you, bread cat, for putting this masterpiece together. i’ve never seen a yellowfang map before and this was amazing. it was a wonderful idea with incredible scripting. i’m still in awe minutes after watching it twice. and great work to all the animators who put in hard work to see this finished. this was such an emotional rollercoaster of a map, well done to everybody involved! i would’ve definitely made fanart ahead of time, but school is a pain lol

The thing that really gets me in this map is how much brokenstar resembles yellowfang. We always hear about how he was, like, _"the spitting image of his father"_ or whatever but it's so much more unnerving to see yellowfang reflected in him

The chunk of parts where RaggedStar is getting killed was breathtaking. You can literally see the look of desperation in his eyes as he tries to get BrokenTail/Star off, starting to panic more and more finding ways to make him let go, such as bucking around, trying to slam himself into a tree, etc. Then the part where he does die just gets so real with the bleeding nose and eye roll up. This whole M.A.P was worth the long wait. Good job to everyone involved

Hello, I doubt the map host or any participants of the map will read this but this map means soo much to me. This map helped me through alot of personal issues, and was my ultimate source of comfort when I was diagnosed with depression. This map also made me bond with meet who is now my closest friend, and helped with so many other things. I just wanted to say that I’m so glad this beautiful map was posted, it will always be my favorite map❤

Honestly, this is my favourite MAProject. I rewatch it whenever I feel low on confidence on my own animation, artwork or even myself and my life, and it always pushes me to strive to continue. The concept is mindblowingly phenomenal and the participants all did such a great way of conveying it to the audience. Every single part never fails to blow me away, always sending chills down my spine and making my jaw drop in awe. It's very nearly an inexplicable feeling, but I just want this to get out there. Its played such a huge role in my journey as an artist, animator and person and is one of the main reasons that after 3 full years of not animating, thinking fully that I was done, I'm going back into it. And I'm glad to. I can't thank the host and the people who worked on this MAP enough, I hope you all know that.

I never truly realized how horrific Brokenstar's reign was until I watched this map. In the books it never made me feel much emotion or terror thinking about what Brokenstar did until this map came out. You can really see how disturbing the things he did were in this. This is an amazing representation of what happened, dude, seriously, amazing job. ❤

I haven't had a MAP give me chills in AGES The scene where Brokenstar kills Raggedstar, seeing Yellowfang climb up a hill of dead kits, Broken flashing to a kit before she blinds him. Every part feels like it carries the full weight of Yellofang's story.

The ending got me. The fact yellowfang climbed up Brokenstar/tail’s sins. Every cat he killed , young and old. The tower stands tall , with a sinister figure at the top. Yellowfang confronts him in such an amazing way. You have so much to look at in these last moments , just for the music to wash away , silently.

This whole thing is so powerful and beautiful, I've been out of the Warrior Cats fandom for a while but recently started rewatching some old MAPs and discovered this. Like someone else said showing the story visually really emphasizes how fucked up it all was. The emotion in this is palpable and very much brings tears to my eyes. The part where Yellowfang is climbing the pile of dead kits calling out to Brokenstar is so painful and emotional to watch I'm a little late to the party but amazing job everyone that worked on this, I mean wow

This made me cry my eyeballs out, the atmosphere this map interprets is the same I felt when I read yellowfang's secret. A melancholic environment, that just keeps attracting you into reading or watching. I love the musical choice and the awesome designs. Magnificent map, you've got my like.

I just don't think I can express the emotions and depth this map gave the original story and how it made me cry re-watching through all of these memeories... I honestly feel this map is just too good for any words. It holds so much in the art and time every creator put into it and it deserves so much more love and attention. This was absolutely beautiful. I had to rewatch it again and again, and I will once more everytime I put on Warrior maps to sing along to and remember the stories each one holds. Gosh there is so much I feel about this I wish o could say right here and now. This. Is. Incredible. Please believe me, really. All the creators of this should be very proud of their art. ❤

everytime i watch this, everytime brokenstar's face changes to brokenkit's it gives me chills. Really perfectly captures Yellowfang's heartbreak and struggle. She's seeing her son, her baby, and has to do the unspeakable to stop him.

GOD this whole thing is stunning. I’ve been following this map since Amelia’s part came out and i was SO excited when it came out!! Everyone did an amazing job on their parts, and didn’t let me down once!! (Not like a map ever does, i always get amazed by every single map) Every participant’s part stood out to me in such a way that i can’t get the song out of my head. I’m glad everyone had fun making their parts, they’re all mind-blowing!!
