I’m a bit embarrassed to post this but…my husband and I used to watch you guys every time a new podcast or vlog was posted. We love you guys, and also we were your neighbors in Parker and loved seeing the town on your videos, but this is the first podcast I watch without him since he suddenly passed three weeks ago of a heart attack. It’s such a weird feeling. Also, congrats on the twins! It’s a wild ride having children but very much worth it.

Wow I have no words that could make you feel any better after everything you’ve been through. I cannot even imagine what kind of pain that you’re going through 😢. HUGE respect to you for opening up about SUCH a a difficult topic 😢❤. I really really REALLY hope that Shane sees this and I would make it my PERSONAL mission to try and get you and this comment and story noticed. As of course with a huge following like Shane has, it can be pretty difficult for him to see or acknowledge it (due to all of the comments) But I honestly believe that if he heard your story and what you’ve been through… that you both LOVED shane , his content etc and the tragedies that you have been through so recently… I honestly believe that Shane would be flattered, honoured and absolutely sympathetic towards you and your recent loss 😢😔 If you ever need to talk to someone about this, my personal recommendation would be to open up as best as you can😔. I’m sure that what you’ve been through is one of the worst things imaginable and if Shane found out and heard your experience I believe he’d comfort you and shout him out in their (your partners) memory ❤️ I don’t know what else to say other than you’re an ABSOLUTE LEGEND AND SURVIVOR!! And I’ll be thinking of you today and praying for your well-being. Thank you for being a beautiful human being and sharing your story because I’m sure you’re helping so many others in not feeling alone and because it’s so recent and fresh, I applaud you for your bravery and it may not feel this way rn but eventually you will be stronger and will help others who go through the same thing by sharing ❤️❤️stay strong so sorry for your loss and thinking of you ❤❤❤

@@MillenialMellow omg… don’t know what to say…this has lifted my spirits like you have no idea. We’re on our way this morning to spread his ashes in the ocean. We’ve been having a hard time since his passing but we’re safe and alright and moving forward. I think he would love this message and get a big kick out of Shane or Ryland liking this or comento g. He’d probably be laughing. We did once see Ryland driving around Downtown Parker. We were chuckling and saying ‘oh my gourd’ as we drove behind him.

Respectfully, as a mom who breastfed, "letdown" most typically refers to the point in time where a baby is breastfeeding and your milk starts flowing. It can also happen if your boobs decide "I'm full and not waiting for baby to be ready". It can be itchy, or painful, or have a wave of emotion or feeling of relief. It is different for every woman.

Thank you! This is what I came to say as well. I have breastfed both my kids. Had different experiences with PPD and also the let down sensations were totally different with both. I didn’t have the emotional piece with my first, but did with my second. It depends on the person and situation.

You’re tired of it but you made a random comment bringing it up anyway? Nothing about that was talked about in this video.. but y’all will still find a way to bring it in the conversation lol. If you don’t like drama then stop talking about it and bringing it up anytime you get a chance. Even if it’s supposed to be a compliment; your logic just doesn’t make sense. "Let down" in regards to breast feeding is when the breast milk flows. I remember when my son was an infant, I could think of him, or even just see his picture when we were apart and that would stimulate my breasts to begin leaking. It's an unbelievable and intense bond between the mother and baby. Extremely beautiful experience!

As a mama who’s been pregnant and or breastfeeding for almost 4 years…a let down is actually a tingling sensation that happens in your boob at the start of a feed and then your milk will essentially spray out. What you’re talking about is called D-MER, it’s where you become sad, depressed, homesick feeling while you’re feeding your baby. I haven’t personally experienced it but have seen mamas that have and they gave up breastfeeding because it was so draining on their mental health.

I thought 'let down' was after the boobs get the milk for the first time, balloon into giant hard rocks that are excruciatingly painful, then the milk flows out. That's what happened to me anyway, 10 days after birthing, i had to formula feed before that and daughter was never able to latch properly. Anyway, i assumed 'let down' was when the milk comes...
@MicahsMommi
@MicahsMommi Жыл бұрын
Letdown is literally when your milk comes out out of nowhere lol. It's your milk coming down and out. It usually happens when you hear a baby cry (doesn't always have to be your own) and its a tingly sensation that can feel overwhelming and you instantly have this need or desire to help the crying baby
@Deenurr
@Deenurr 6 ай бұрын
Theyre not talking about the letdown the action of milk release, they’re talking about The Letdown, the book written about and by a woman experiencing D-MER (dysphoric milk ejection reflex) some mothers dopamine bottoms out instead of just dipping to allow lactin to flow, and this causes extreme waves of negative emotion at milk letdown, very much like Shane described. I had it with both babies and actually managed to feed for 3yrs with my second, despite multiple waves at every feed right up to weaning. Waves usually last about 30 seconds but hit you like an absolute gut punch, very hard to explain how you can go from mid conversation to completely side swiped by this Boulder of sickening emotions… and then a few seconds later go back to feeling completely normal

One thing that I’d love to share with you that you might find great to share with your own kids is…. that they were VERY planned. When you are born out of the “norm” it helps to hear how much your parents fought to have you. My dad had his vasectomy reversed (after 3 kids before he met my mom and my mom raised a son on her own). Even though they are a straight couple, they made the decision for no more kids until they met each other. they really really wanted to have a kid together. Odds were against them, There was the possibility it wouldn’t work.. cost a lot of money, surgery, etc…but it did. They tell me all the time “we loved you before we knew you and you were VERY very very planned” ♥️ it’s weird to say but makes me feel so genuinely connected because even in a world where it couldn’t happen.. they did everything to have me here♥️ your babies already have the best parents. Mommy here 🙋🏼‍♀️ “let down” usually refers to milk coming out and is usually triggered by your baby feeding , “let down” can leak out of the other breast. It can even be triggered by a baby crying. It’s like your body just knows when it’s time to feed to let down will start to come out and if you don’t release it, your boobs could really hurt bc they’re full . The girl may have just been having those emotions while feeding unfortunately.

But I NEVER experienced thoughts like in the video. I stopped BF a few months ago but I still get weird body urges when I hear a baby crying - even other peoples lol
@Jdjess
@Jdjess Жыл бұрын
I looked into this and it’s actually called Dysmorphic Milk Ejection Reflex, or D-MER. It’s from a rush of hormones (and decrease in dopamine!) that help the body to release the milk, which can cause 5-9% of women to have feelings of dread/anxiety/sadness. It’s completely caused by the hormones and not something someone has control over feeling and is something different than just feeling too full and needing the release.

So the “letdown” thing doesn’t happen for every person in the way that you’re describing. What you’re describing is D-MER which stands for dysphoric milk ejection reflex. When a letdown happens, which is the body releasing/letting the milk flow from the breast, it can be accompanied with feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability, and those feelings of depression you’re talking about! So they’re two separate things but also both very real 💕☺️

I am breastfeeding and do experience D-MER during let downs! I don’t experience feelings of depression but I most definitely experience the anxiety and irritability for about a minute or two during a feed before it goes away!! I was really shocked and impressed that shane had researched this and knew a little about it 💛 you’re going to be great dads!

@@JewelGates he’s definitely describing D-MER but just used the term as the letdown which is part of the experience but it isn’t super common so not as well known. Happens often with exclusively pumping which I did and read about bc of it. Some people describe it as just feeling dread/doom/sadness/overwhelming but it’s only during the letdown and shortly after. I believe it can sometimes be tied to PPD/PPA though but those are definitely an entirely different animal on their own not associated with letdowns💕

@@JewelGatesNo. Post-partum depression is a continuous disorder that happens after giving birth. What he's describing is a temporary fluctuation in emotions caused by hormone fluctuation while lactating. Hormone fluctuations are what causes the milk to flow out of the breast (this is the let down). He's most likely confusing it with D-MER, or dysphoric milk ejection reflex, which happens to up to 10% of women breastfeeding and is indeed caused by the let down. All breastfeeders get let down (milk releasing from the breast) but only some people experience the intense negative feelings (D-MER).

I’ve been watching Shane since I was about 9, and he’s got me thru all the phases of my life, being a clueless kid an angsty confused teen. Last month June 8th my girlfriend passed of an overdose. I’ve struggled with drugs myself and didn’t really know how I was gonna combat this loss and sobriety. I never really thought I’d smile again. But I always get excited when I see a new video, and I just wanted to say thank you to this wonderful group, and pour my heart out to Shane♥️ I love all of you and thank you for being such positive people

A milk down is the a rush of milk coming in for about 20-30 seconds. What you’re explaining Shane is sensation of discomfort woman feel when it happens. Some women get very uncomfortable during letdowns and overstimulated but some feel a sense of tingling and no discomfort whatsoever. Depends on the momma!

I wanted to take the time to compliment the show. It’s lovely seeing all these different energies come together to build a great podcast. Starting off with Shane; though may have mental health issues it brings about awareness and understanding. I get hooked on the conspiracy theories, ghost stories, and the Mandela affect it’s really intriguing. Then there’s Ryland the support wifey type. So fun and energetic. Here comes along Chris, though shy he’s got his German and Peru facts. Finally Jerid, the chill guy with cheap tricks and can easily go with the flow. Despite the fights and picking on each other, although it does add on to the entertainment, all these energies combine is what makes this show phenomenal. :)

I thought that's what it was called. No one mentioned that term to me but i assumed that's what it was. It was painful, my boobs were like giant hard rocks, at least 500mls came out of them in that time, but i was in so much pain and wasn't expecting it because no one told me about it, i wasn't able to make sure to save it, i just grabbed a random bowl to leak into and it wasn't clean, so that sucked. It;s a problem when hospital staff, midwives, health visitors, and family who have gone through it all don't share crap-all information with young first-time mothers(i was 25yrs old).

Okay so breastfed 3 babies and the “letdown” is typically only painful in the first couple weeks after birth. I didn’t experience depression in any of my letdowns, I haven’t heard of that. But the term “letdown” is specifically when the milk comes out at a very fast and continuous state for about 15-30 seconds and it’s when the baby gets the most volume of milk. It also happens on its own when it’s time to breastfeed the baby or when baby is crying. Your boobs literally tell you it’s time lol. It tingles too 😂
