The tip on listening close while in mono and you can hear where you have overlapping frequencies is probably the best morsel of information within this workshop. That is if you didn't already know to make sure your mix sounds good in mono.

I get your humility with considering the artist. Respect makes things work so well on both parts, the artist and the person doing the mastering. When I got my first cd done I did not know ANYTHING. But the person doing the Mastering asked me several questions. Now, I know what to ask for and tell him or her. Its a story that wants to be told. If I don't know the story how can the Mastering person get it done. Thank you for your talent.

Does anybody clip mixes on a master channel? for example +3db? Like it adds a lot of volume and sometimes it's even better, more aggressive and stuff, RIGHT?:)))

i bought into pro tools at version 8 when we had to get digi hardware with it , and back then it was pretty good , but today , i would really hate to be stuck in pro tools ... yikes .. but cheers .. to eaches own , all food cant be lobster ... cheers .

times have changed, looks like we lost touch with reference when we lost radio and records. this sounds like garbage to me. i even got the track before writing this. but no one knows anymore, theres no standards. nothing to compare to. even alot of audiophile hifi can make the worst records sound great to an ear that isnt listen to older mediums or visiting concert halls regularly, as every engineer should. regularly. and wear ear guards! fuckin dont slack way off like this guy and ignore detail in favor of a faster work flow and industry props. remain vigil! gaurd the sound! theres more freedom in our times and a lot of the stuff we love lately wouldnt have happend otherwise but this sounds like 90% of the stuff making big out there. its the image, not the craft thats selling....youre going to have to choose. why are you doing this? do you have a choice in the matter? if you do, go fkin buy some slate shit you creep or get back to your sales job! you shoulda picked golf for a hobby.

I watched a few of these vids. Basically its all about over processing and facelifting. Thats everything sounds the same. Sterile quantised and over polished. Especially this example + plus the "deep" lyrics.

Put the warmth back into music ? There's nothing warm about pump action compression and robot vocals...and where are the instruments ? Cyborg me man...sheesh. There is nothing clever or artistic about catering to youths poor taste, it just adds to the pollution.

Ben Luke done that m8. All of the definitions I looked at, and I looked at 4, Collins, Merriam Webster, Cambridge, Oxford, referred to warmth in context of thermal measurement or human emotion. Thus we can conclude, as we all already knew anyway, that in the world of us audio nerds, that the word “warmth”, has no exact definition, and it’s interpretation is somewhat subjective.
