The part about "cannot text you with a drink in my hand" isn't really about how hard it is to put the drink down, but how she isn't interested in doing so because she wants to have fun and not talk right now

@emeraldkat21674 жыл бұрын
@@shayla106 well considering there are many songs with that title (demi Lovato, norah Jones, and phil Collins just to start), I'm not sure whose you are referring to. I don't think the song is talking about suicide, only an abusive relationship and being unable to leave it. Even if the other song you are referring to is talking about suicide & sexual abuse, that doesn't mean this song isn't talking about its subject matter appropriately. There are many kinds of abuse, and stalking is one. This seems more to be indicative of someone who won't leave you alone even when you ignore, block, scream, or plead. That's a very different situation from the one you describe.

I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of the cigarette visor Gaga wears earlier in the video. It looks Devo-like, but not quite. It seems to be something more like a darkworlder from Dark Seed would wear. When it comes to the song's premise, it feels like a long drawn out modern pop variation of Kraftwerk's "Telephone Call" and Falco's "Vienna Calling" (both songs I much prefer to this), with the addition of badly acted and confusingly symbolic prose scenes. Devo did a story motivated music video in "Worried Man," and its awkward acting and weird social commentary was better than this.

I think it fits it perfectly really. But that if you take it that at the beginning gaga is in an abusive relationship (she's in jail and wants the guy to leave her alone - "stop calling I just want to dance on the floor"). Then when her friend helps her out of it, beyonce in this case, the police are useless. I also think that the hospital is saying how a lot of women end up there or dead because of these situations they can't get out of. It's all interrelated if you look at it that way; although the part with beyonce poisoning the guy wasn't totally necessary. It did help drive home the point that her friend was the only one trying to help her get out of it.

I feel like Todd gets a lot of things sort of right but not entirely, honestly I think the fact that he saw the video in this one dimensional way is the point of why the metaphor is so vague, because the way that he saw this video and song being is a lot like how people outside of a toxic relationship feel about the victim of the relationship. They feel like the solution is a lot more simple than it actually is, like "Why don't you just leave him?" when in fact in a lot of cases there's more to it than that.
