A few “late to the party” thoughts. I met Barry Williams when he came into the bank I was working at in Mn. He was really nice and when he came in the second time he autographed his book and a picture for me. He didn’t charge me. I always thought that Jan was way prettier than Marcia. For all the crap that’s written about Robert Reed he actually was very kind and generous to the kids. Yeah he was a pain on the set but I think he was a kind man dealing with his own demons.

I watched the choreography. In that exact moment, Greg and Marcia face each other. Bobby and Cindy face each other. It would stand to reason that Peter should have faced Jan, but didn't. LOL. Not unusual for sitcoms. Cute little kids are more appealing than older kids. The "cute little kid" was what Cousin Oliver was meant to be, in order to pull in more viewers to pull up ratings. Sometimes it's taken a bit far; let kids be their age!!

I try to watch season five, but i always end up hating it. They were trying to be the Partridge Family; they wanted to be music stars, but that wasn't gonna happen. You can tell they are bored. Eve is acting like a diva. Florence was frustrated with her character. Robert Reed, of course, refused to work on the hair tonic episode, and got himself fired. What a mess. Sherwood Schwartz lost control of the show.
@notsure1277 Жыл бұрын
Most tee-vee shows, even if they are of high quality, have a lifespan of about five seasons, give or take one. After that, the writers/producers/actors have run out of anything original to do and say. Stories get repetitive, people get bored, and writers will often rely on introducing musical numbers by the cast as a substitute for actual plots.

This was a situational comedy. Jan wanted more serious plot lines. Not happening girl. Cindy wanted a horse. Not happening. Bobby wants a gf, that was doable. Greg wanted to get into a fist fight that could have worked. Having final say in the scripts was a little much, especially coming from the children. I hope they were grateful for the work they did. They beat out 1,000s of other children.

The show had run it's course and became outdated even for it's time. The episodes are still too clean cut, cookie cutter, type episodes. Everything tied up in a neat bow, compared to other tv sitcoms at the time like All In The Family, The Lucy Show, Good Times, One Day At a Time. Sherwood Swartz wanted the Brady Bunch to stay it's goody too shoes format because that's how he felt the show should be.
