You have a bunch of good ideas here. So, having done conservation planning for 20+ years, I have a recommendation for your water pump. You an intake float. And what the intake float does is that it holds your screened intake hose off of the bottom. Lakes can get pretty glucky. The other thing that it does is that float keeps your intake down in the water away from the slimy algae matter that would plug up your filters in a heart beat. If you are going to use the water to drink, it has to be boiled, ran through a water purifier, or treated with bleach. Trust me, you do not want to catch Giardia!

Thanks! I have a float on the end of the hose, keeping it off the bottom and the brass screen end keeps it under the water. Thanks for the advice. Also, the last 2 micron filter will remove Giardia.

I have jumped my truck off the camper battery. A sawyer water filter gets down to 1 micron and only $25, plus it's tiny.

Sawyer is great for hikes or a single person - not the best option for family of 4 & a week in the mountains. Camper batteries are lithium, their not starter batteries - won’t work in my situation.
