Your channel is inspiring me to get into a club and race, something I’ve always wanted to do but didn’t have the time/money ( wife’s permission) etc or to be honest a little scared. I’m now waiting for my Atom 3 and some bits and bobs and will be going to a local club and racing very soon I can’t wait. Keep up the excellent work guys. 👍

I'm 36 and just getting into the hobby after getting an RC car for my 4yo son and everytime I would drive his, after a couple minutes he would ask when it was going to be his turn again.... I got my own. Now I want to get into racing some and went to the local track (which is a fairly large clay surface track) and talked to the people at the hobby shop attached. One guy was friendly enough but the other 5 people in the hobby shop all fiddling away at their 1/8 scale buggies said nothing and gave off a aire of standoffishness. Im still going to go back but it is intimidating to go in there being brand new to everything. Thanks for making this video and talking about the subject. It's helpful when people recognize the noobs and initiate the conversation

Hi Guy's, A yank here. It's hard not to get jealous of the U.K. racing scene. I really enjoy your vids, been following you guys for a while. I am trying to figure out how to clone you guys and insert you two over here in the U.S.A. midwest region. Racing is really dead in my area.

Ive just stared racing done 4 races now . Yes its actually quiet intimidating to start but generally i found it very friendly , south lakes club was outstandingly welcoming but also telford was really good . To get started i went to the tamiya junkies meets at robinhood raceway which i highly recomend to get some friendly track time without the pressure of racing. Would be great to you see you guys at one of the meets 👍

I’m 44 this year and did my first ever race at the end of the season. It’s not that I’m scared of racing, for me it’s a fear of going all out whilst racing. I don’t have many spares yet built up and I worry when racing that I’m going to crash and damage it. I don’t yet have all the know how to fix it all up especially there and then as quick as to get back on the track. At the mo if I crash at a race it’s game over that day. 😵‍💫 thanks for this vid lads. Also will b looking forward to the vid on marshalling.

A person should respect those who are in house that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the track also. A HobbyTown closed not to far from where I live and I think it's more about online purchases. AlI thow I spent thousands of dollars there. They still Wouldn't even help me find parts on the shelf with out attitude. The reviews said the same, so people loose intrest when it's not fun

That BoJo fella has so much to answer for, lockdown boredom bought many of us back to toy car racing. It can be a little nerve wracking coming back into a hobby you haven’t in for a long time, but just go and have a look, have a chat, find out that we really are a friendly bunch. I help out at Indoor Raceway Stevenage and we love welcoming new members, come and have a chat. Keep up the good work boys. 🚗💨

I think you made some great points for new drivers going to a race. There are some tracks where the racers don't welcome new people, which is very unkind and just stupid, As you said we need more new people in our hobby. Most tracks want new people. I think there are two things which seem a challenge for new drivers. One is slowing down and when to slow down. The other is using the steering wheel properly. Some new drivers when they veer to the left they turn the wheel all the way to the right. They don't bring the wheel back to the center. They go down the straightaway swerving from left to right. I was happy to hear your local club is family friendly.

Share this like crazy! All clubs I know will have a massive range of talents and ability, and no matter whether other drivers been racing 6 months or 30 years, new faces joining in the fun are always welcome. I've been doing this on and off since the 80s, and I'm still stripping gears, losing bodyshells, using the wrong tyres and never quite setting the car right. But you do find that on the rostrum it's competitive, but off the rostrum other drivers will commiserate with your problems and congratulate your successes.

I am not scared to race my cars, it's just that there are no tracks close enough like there was when I first started out. there is a club fairly close but I had a bad experience years ago at that track. I was there on a early saturday and by myself, as I was running my car some people showed up and I thought cool!, somebody to talk to and race with. When I was done running my car I went down below the stand to work on my car, charge and clean it, and found all of my things thrown in my box and set outside the area where you had access to electric. I left and never looked back.

I think a lot of ppl who race RC cars are somewhat neurodivergent/on the spectrum, so it's probably more a case of they're more scared of you, than you being nervous about being in a new place/situation. Hence the heads dropping down and lack of eye contact.
