Seemah, you don't need to change your surname. You're an adult, culturally your step dad would have to "marry" you too and with the permission of your paternal fam. And then you can do the home affairs process. But again, you're and adult, you can keep your surname and possibly change it to a marital one when you get married. Changing surnames is tedious, so spare yourself the trouble.
