Matthew Perry Had More Than $1.5 Million in His Personal Bank Account at the Time of His Death
PEOPLE previously confirmed the late 'Friends' actor had assets in the "Alvy Singer Living Trust," which is seemingly named after Woody Allen’s character in 'Annie Hall'
More than eight months after Matthew Perry’s death at the age of 54, details about the beloved Friends actor's finances have emerged.
Lisa Ferguson, one of the trustees of Perry’s estate, filed an inventory and appraisal document - which was obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday, July 2 - indicating the actor had $1,596,914.47 in his personal bank account at the time of his death.
However, Perry - who starred on Friends, one of the most successful TV shows of all time - likely had many assets that were not part of this filing. Four months ago, PEOPLE confirmed the actor’s will indicated that the majority of the late actor’s belongings were placed in a trust.
The document - which Perry created in 2009 - noted that he wanted to leave his items in the “Alvy Singer Living Trust,” which is seemingly named after Woody Allen’s character in Annie Hall. The assets in the trust have not been disclosed.
His father John Perry and mother Suzanne Morrison were named trust beneficiaries. Half-sister Caitlin Morrison and Rachel Dunn were also listed as beneficiaries.
Perry also indicated in his will that any children he had would not be entitled to access his estate. (The actor never had kids.)
At the time, the filing also showed that Perry had over $1 million in personal property when he died, which is in addition to what his executors - Ferguson and Robin Ruzan - have already put in the living trust.

I can only speculate but to me, this looks like he liked Ketamine, maybe he thought that it wasn't as bad as alcohol or blow and he got some from someone, just like you would buy some dope from a drug dealer. I don't believe that someone was able to convince him to relapse, then make him take so much Ketamine that it made him die from an overdose and then, somehow, find a way to inherit his money or his properties. It's not impossible but come on....

Matthew Perry and Robin Williams are two that haunt me. Robin Williams whole career centered around making others laugh and be happy, yet he was one of the saddest men imaginable. Matthew Perry fought for his life every single day and noone knew or cared. Money and fame couldn’t save either one in the end.

geez people need to watch the whole video 🙄 I do believe he had more in assets (real estate, trusts, businesses, etc). Also, lets remember he was an addict who could have spent money in substances. Then he went to rehab, so more expenses. Later his medical life threatening issues ... more expenses! Then he invested in his book and his place to help others dealing with substance abuse. Do I believe money was a factor for his death? Idk but hopefully a thorough investigation bring light to that question. RIP. Matthew Perry 🙏

Poor little rich boy. All these actors in Hollywood are there bc they had some famous family member who got them the gig or they got it bc of connections they have. Everytime i admire a new actor or feel good for a new face turns out years later you realize they were the family member of some famous behind the scene person or famous actor already established.

There is a lot to the saying, 'Once an addict.....' I'm saying that from personal experience growing up in the 60's and 70's. No one was holding a gun to his head, he probably liked how it made him feel at therapy and reached out to people cause he wanted to get high. Unfortunately, even though he was feeling the high, he did it in a hot tub, probably took too much, and that was it.

Darling, know that all these ppl. in the industry they are already fixed to get jobs for big money. Problem is there are sharks in there too that ploy to get that money one way or another. They drug them over time then move in to steal their money. We have many examples such as Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes, Brian Wilson, etc. The big names that wanted to walk away with their hard earned money were taken out like Michael Jackson and Prince. It is said that when you are famous nothing belongs to you. It is lend and when the "Industry" thinks you are no longer good to create wealth they take it back one way or another.

I’m happy they’re looking into this for sure. It’s just disappointing that if this happens to the average person, it’s written off as an OD and closed. It’s strange to see California investigating Matthew Perry and Mac Miller’s death in this way when the streets of LA are overrun with addicts sleeping on the streets. The fentanyl crisis is out of control there, but they’re spending months and years trying to convict people if it’s a celebrity. Anyone else is written off and the authorities move on. How can there be this much effort for celebrities, but they’re fine with people being blitzed out of their minds, living on the streets, ruining the city, causing numerous other crimes to feed their habits and then left to pass away in plain view of everyone. It’s like they don’t see what’s right in front of them, but these celebrity cases are moved up the ladder.

He was pictured in the same hot tub he died in BEFORE he died. Who took that picture??? I really do not think Matthew Overdosed on his own. No Foul Play was announced RIGHT after he was found dead. That was weird. No Foul Play??? His death had to orchestrated by someone else -- not him. He was looking forward to his future. Once again, I am so sorry about your sister. My sister means the WORLD to me. I am SO sorry. Your sister had a dealer, huh? Well, you can do what Matthew Perry was going to do. You can encourage young people NOT to do drugs. $1.5 million liquid cash does not seem small. Not because I think $1.5 million is this HUGE number. No, it's because I am sure he invests the same way I have and would. You don't keep huge amounts of your net worth liquid. You keep a small percentage to your net worth, under 5%, liquid. The rest you have working for you at ALL times. Investments that continue to grow upon itself, like IRAs, investments in items like art, real estate, that grow in value, and then investments that pay out each month or each year that you use to live off off, like certain money market accounts. Then you invest in some other non-traditional, like minority stake in businesses, patents, crypto (which is becoming more traditional, but is not quite there yet), and any number of other ways that you can grow your wealth. What you DO NOT DO, is just put all your money in the bank to a mear 2%, if you are truly freaking lucky.

@@angellove306 …then why are you here, dear? If you are so concerned about your ill relative-so concerned that you are here chastising the creator and viewers of this video-then why are you wasting your time watching and commenting on videos?? 🧐 I’m sure we’re all very sorry for your relative’s plight. That’s very unfortunate.

With all due respect, I don’t give a blip about your family member. You are a stranger. We, online, are strangers. Why would we know or care about you and your family? And why would you hop online, watch a video, comment on the video, and then feel like you did something meaningful?

As much as I Love MP, if he wasn’t a celebrity, no one would even look into this. Look at all the non famous people who overdose and their death is NEVER looked into. Now their drug dealer is off the hook…. Just saying that it’s ridiculous this is getting so much attention because he was famous. He was going to do what he wanted to do and his health was a result of it. It’s also ridiculous thinking that whoever gave him access to HIS OWN MONEY is partly to blame!!!! I’m wondering if any of this is even true. Lots of people with these social media pages make up crap to get more action on their pages.

I’m not advocating drugs, however Matthew Perry was a grown man who chose to take drugs. He’s as responsible for his death as anyone else. To go after whoever sold him the drugs abolishes him from any responsibility to himself. He knew he could die taking drugs.
