"Dave, I would have taken a bullet for you." -That gets me every time! Dave is truly one of the most underrated, heartfelt and fantastically written movies. I love it! Also, Kevin Kline is one of the most underrated actors of our time. Wish he had done more after the '90s.

"I would've taken a bullet for you." Simple, sincere... That line...is the hallmark of what it means to be a good leader. When those you lead aren't commanded to do what needs to be done, or because they feel a sense of obligation or compulsion, but because they WANT to...because your leadership is worthy of their effort.

yeah, having not seen "Dave" since the last century, I always pictured Ving Rhames in a sweater in the last scene. PLUS, this thought came to me years ago, when he took the First Lady and Dave to see President Mitchell, he did take a bullet. he took them where NO ONE was allowed to be. Ving Rhames says, "We can get in a lot of trouble!" this showed, he could 'take a bullet'!

Kevin Kline, who plays the President and Dave, is one of my favorite actors. He is an award-winning actor on stage and screen. Some of his best movies: - Silverado - A western, he plays a gunslinger with a heart of gold, in a cast including Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, Jeff Goldblum, and John Cleese. - The Big Chill - A group of college friends reunite after one of their own takes his own life. Lots of amazing music - The Pirates of Penzance - Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta takes a tough comic turn with a huge cast. Kline reprises his Tony Award-winning role as The Pirate King, with the rest of the original, Broadway cast: Linda Ronstadt, Rex Smith, George Rose, and Tony Azito. The only one who is not the original cast is Angela Lansbury as Ruth. - In & Out - As a beloved high school teacher in a small town outed on the Academy Awards telecast by a former student who just won Best Actor. Tom Sellick, Debbie Reynolds, Joan Cusack, and Matt Dillon. - A Fish Called Wanda - Written and starring Monty Python member John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Python member Michael Palin. Kline won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. - Grand Canyon - An ensemble drama with Kline, Mary McDonnell, Danny Glover, and others. - De-Lovely - A musical fantasia/biography of composer-lyricist Cole Porter with Kline as Porter. Ashley Judd plays his wife. Lots of great songs from the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s written by Porter. - French Kiss - A rom-com with Meg Ryan...Kline plays the French leading man. - Soapdish - A huge ensemble comedy with Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert Downey, Jr, and Elizabeth Shue. Behind the scenes of a TV soap opera. - Chaplin - A biopic of Charlie Chaplin starring Robert Downey, Jr. as Chaplin. Kline plays silent film star Douglas Fairbanks, one of Chaplin's closest Hollywood friends. There are about 15 other solid films he's made. Silverado, The Big Chill, Grand Canyon, and French Kiss are all films written and/or directed by Laurence Kasdan

"Silverado" (1985) is a good, solid western starring Kevin Kline and with an excellent supporting cast of Kevin Costner, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Linda Hunt, and Brian Dennehy: if you are now ready for more Kevin Kline. But you can also find Kevin Kline in the story of a group of baby boomer college friends reuniting after 15 years who gather together for the funeral of yet another of the old group (corpse played by Kevin Costner). Costarring Glenn Close, William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, Tom Berenger, & JoBeth Williams, this 1983 comedy drama has an outstanding sound track of old time rock and roll. Oscar nominated for Best Picture, someday watch "The Big Chill".

Bright Angel, Miss Cassie, you're 100% right. We desperately need politicians who are like Dave. Being nice to others, showing compassion, being humble, and helping others when needed are all attributes of a selfless person. Many people love living a life of greed and power and care less for the greater good of others. Serving themselves instead of the people who they should represent. Dave is a dream we all wish for in our hearts for our country.

If you remember Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws, he played a similar role in a delightful comedy named "Moon Over Paradox." It's outside the US, Dreyfuss is an actor who gets kinda forced into the role. Worth a watch.

It's raining here. This wholesome, funny movie takes me back to my childhood like a warm blanket. Your reaction is so sweet and it makes it even more enjoyable. Like movie theater butter on, well... popcorn. Love the channel and looking forward to 13 Days!

This movie is such a perfect little dream of a movie. It's tragic that it can only be a dream. But I love all of the touches and it truly earned the goodwill you have about a Dave. He's a truly great person and you see why people would be inspired by him. As mentioned by the others, the incredible amount of celebrity and political cameos just cemented it in a dream we all wish we were part of.

This is one of may adaptations of a story called The Prisoner of Zenda. The most recent version before this was called Moon over Paarador, starring Richard Dreyfuss in the Dave role, Raol Julia as the Bob role, and directed by Paul Mazusk,

This is a classic already! At least in my eyes. Out off all the president movies maybe the sweetest because you have a balance of comedy drama and love story. So well written, directed and acted. I’ve seen it so many times and I never get tired of it. That’s when you know it will always be a hit.

They don't make great romantic comedies like this anymore, like they did in the 80s, 90s, early 2000s. In the age of big budget movies, comedies are now rarer. This one was a much loved comedy and love interest with Signourney. Thanks for a great reaction and replay of this movie.

This movie is based on a 1894 Btitish novel by Anthony Hope, entitled "The Prisoner of Zenda." In the novel, the imposter must impersonate a King. It was made into (drama) movie in 1937. Then there was a (comedy) remake in 1988 called "Moon Over Parador," starring Richard Dreyfus, in which he must impersonate a South American dictator. I love that movie! Dreyfus is so funny! And then came this charmer in '93.

This was the last movie I watched with my favorite aunt ,when she was passing away. I went for a goodbye week with her. And picked this as one of the movie nights. I wanted to give her a big more of political hope. And she appeared to be paying attention to it more than some of the others, and really enjoyed it. More movies like this need to be made.

Interesting that a whole bunch of movies came out in the 1990s that were either presidentially themed or had the U.S. President as one of its main characters: Dave, The American President, Air Force One, Independence Day, Nixon, JFK, My Fellow Americans, Primary Colors, Wag the Dog, Absolute Power. Even Mars Attacks.

Kevin Kline is one of my favorite actors. If you haven't seen "The Emperor's Club," it is basically Great Value "Dead Poet's Society," but Kevin Kline is phenomenal in it. I think his worst acting performance of his entire career was probably Wild Wild West, and he was pretty damned good in that, which speaks to his career.

Cassie, I think every voter wants a Dave in charge. But, as the bard once said, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." I also think that for most politicians they truly do want to do what's good for their constituents, but it seems that they fall victim to what others tell them to get re-elected instead of what's right. Take a look at the 1939 movie 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'. I think you'll enjoy it.

About Kevin Kline, some people noticed that he played over the top or villainous characters when he has a moustache. But he played straight likable characters when he was clean shaven. I'll let other people discuss whether this is true.
