For me personally, that's how a pope should live. God chose him to lead the church and he chose to live the humble way.

I am a dyed in the wool Protestant, but I still address's our local Parish Priest as 'Father', just like I would address my own Minister as 'Rector' or the local Jewish clergyman as 'Rabbi'...It's just respectful

Pope Francis is such a breath of fresh air for our church that needs to be humbled. For far too long the lavish luxuries have overtaken the real issues our church needs to face; corruption, clergy sex abuse, cover ups, the list goes on. Our Lord was compassionate to the marginalised, poor, desperate and outcast people, I can see Francis as a true role model of Jesus' behaviour. He is not destroying the church, rather he is breathing real life back into it.

I loved John Paul the Second. I did not have the same feelings for Pope Benedict. I did not feel 'close' to him. But this Pope here, Francis, has the potential to be as revered as John Paul the Second. At every opportunity he is turning his back on the trappings of riches - as the Saint he is named after did, and he is closer to the people then Benedict ever was. He reminds me a lot of John Paul and already has the trust and love of many people around the world and many faith leaders too.

W Leon I just need to put this here. Please do not measure the humility of a person just by what he wears. Now, I'm not saying that Pope Francis is not humble. What I'm saying is Pope Emeritus Benedict did not wear those elaborate vestures and use those ornate funiture because he wanted to flaunt them, it was because he was that type who always knew the significance of his job as the Vicar of Christ on Earth. Remember St. Thomas Becket? He wore a hair shirt underneath his vestments, so that he can humble himself in front of God but still demonstrate his office as Archbishop. My point is, all of the Popes have their own way of demonstrating their virtues and priorities, and that should not be taken as "Oh, he has this virtue, but he lacks this other one." And to just point this out, St. John Paul II wore the exact same vestments Pope Benedict had. Wearing simpler clothes does not make you automatically closer to the people. It is an insignificant step that can be skipped.

No he does not. Benedict was close to JP2, Benedict may not be as charismatic as JP2 but they're both true to the Church and not heretical

Seriously this doesn't make sense... it's not like they will save on rent or anything when he doesn't live in the residence? so he lives in the small apartment, okay, but the residence will stay empty for years while they will still have to pay for maintenance and so on without even being used?! That's kinda counterproductive

He seems to be an average man, with a strong, faithfilled core. 8 years later, he's hasn't moved yet, the official papal "limo" is a Ford Focus, and probably enjoys a glass of good, inexpensive table wine with dinner, and loves to read a good book.

I hate Francis. I really do. Don't believe for a second that he has love in his heart,or at least tolerance. Not after he chased away Ganswein from Vatican,like he was a nothing.
