Poppy's entire career is a collective piece of art. She's acting more normal, because its a reflection of her music. In the narrative she created, she went from a "pop" singer, held down by music executives, to a girl who is rebelling and finding her authentic self. Poppy grew up with metal music; it's who she really is. The pop music represented something inauthentic and manufactured, whereas the new era is wildly original.

She's just slowly getting rid of the character. I can tell. The music is getting more detailed with each new release, and less art pop. This project can't go on forever and she is probably getting bored of doing it. She just wants to do some cool music of her own and something that is more personal and real. She just has to do it slowly to keep her fan base.
