@@leonardopena7105 That song is a highlight for me, even if it's the least complex song on the album. Although admittedly it's because it hits on something that most people don't touch. Specifically by referencing the "It Gets Better" campaign to prevent LGBTQ suicide, with her saying that every day feels the same. I think keeping the song simple really sells that idea of depression and repetition. It's also why it's the perfect lead in to Don't Go Outside and its ultimate message of being who you want to be. But it being a highlight for me says less than it could when pretty much every song has something compelling and doesn't overstay it's welcome. I haven't loved an album like this in quite some time. Moon Honey's last album came closest, but even that has a song or two I tend to skip.

I’m so glad you reviewed this album. It’s a fantastic Pop/Metal album and the inclusion of other sub genres are genius to me. Yes, that’s Marilyn Manson on the record. Poppy has one of the most interesting pop careers in recent memory. It’s exciting to watch. Personally, though, I feel as though the crowd cheering in “Concrete” makes perfect sense. considering it blends into the final part of the song, which is the catchy pop-hook part. I don’t really know how to explain it but I think it’s commentary on how she will sell the dark message of the song to the masses with bright hooks. If that makes sense.

It's wonderful. All around it's one of the more interesting metal albums I've heard in awhile, and I love some extreme shit. Poppy's take on it just sounds surprisingly fresh, and a combination that you don't hear all that much. I really appreciate the critical acclaim it's receiving, as at first I received a bit of backlash for enjoying it as much as I did, considering most people see me as a "truebred" metalhead. I wouldn't call this avant-garde, but it's certainly an eclectic style that ranges through many genres. I hope that this could be a crossover record for those that've previously enjoyed Poppy, or otherwise enjoy the soundscapes at hand.

I got some Devin Townsend vibes on it, who I've heard has a mixed reception in the metal community. But this and his albums are the most I've been invested in the genre because of the experimentation. Do you have any other artists and especially specific albums you'd suggest? I actually love metal instrumentation, but I can find the vocals off putting. Ocean Machine and Infinity are my two favorite albums by Townsend, if that helps.
