Жыл бұрынPorcupine Tree was the main act of the Saturday edition of the Bospop 2023 festival. What an utterly awesome band it still is... 🙏 Unfortunately their bass player Nate Navarro had to leave the tour due to serious family issues.
I shot this video with my mobile phone and the british woman who stood next to me said "You are a hero" for recording such a long shot. 😎😎
Last year I missed their concert in Amsterdam due to a house renovation (new kitchen, etc... happy wife, happy life you know). The band was re-formed after more than a decade of not playing for public and it was on my list for a long time to see Steven Wilson live perform on stage... 🙏

Vet man! Was dit je aller eerste keer?! Ik heb hem voor het eerst gezien bij bospop 2015 met z'n solo carrière. Dat was met het album tour Hand. Cannot. Erase. Wat een fantastische show! Eén van de beste shows ooit gezien van hem. Daarna nog 2 keer gezien en vorig jaar voor het eerst Porcupine Tree. Ook dat was een show om nooit te vergeten! 😄

Remarkable indeed that Part III is often skipped, which is a sin because Part III is such a beautiful climax! It makes me realise that love can be so beautiful, that it hurts. And it’s okay, the pain of a burning heart makes us grow! ❤️🔥

Het stond in het begin op het scherm,maar heb stiekum ook een paar korte opnames gemaakt😅 Stond ook al lang op mijn verlanglijstje en ben blij dat ik ze eindelijk een keer live heb mogen zien.🙏Hopelijk komen ze snel weer een keer in de buurt voor een optreden.

@@Lisa-ep3px I had tickets voor hun concert in ZIggo afgelopen november, maar omdat ik toen midden in een grote verbouwing zat (bezig van 's morgens vroeg tot 's avonds laat) en ik vanuit Groningen 2 uur heen en 2 uur terug moet rijden heb ik ze weer (met pijn in mijn hart) verkocht. Anders was het vast een vangrailtje geworden op de terugweg....

7-10-23: Thanks for sharing this live performance Bert...I wouldn't have bet that you were using a "mobile phone" to film this. The sound quality is great...because the performance is great to begin with of course. That stage venue is awesome too...with that large screen!!! Lucky you and all the others attending!!!! Dark Matter. Particularly because it is the very first PT song that ever hit my eardrums and it was played for me by my favourite singer who passed away in 2017. Dark Matter has a very special place in my heart because of the memory I hold dear ❤

Nee sorry. Je hebt deel III echt gemist, dat hebben ze wel degelijk gespeeld. Het is mijn favoriete stuk van dit nummer. Anesthetize is een 3-luik en duurt ruim 17 minuten.

There was no bass player on stage at this concert. Due to serious family issues he had to return home, but.... he pre-recorded his part....

Nope! They recorded Nate’s bass parts. You don’t hear a programmed protools track, you hear the bass played by Nate pre-recorded and it was played along the entire concert. The whole band does an amazing job to finish this tour with a halved rhythm section! And let’s not forget about Nate who had to make a very difficult decision! Respect for the band. Which leaves me with a question: did it spoil the dynamics of the show for you? It didn’t for me. And to be honest, not a hair on my head doubted that for a second. Harrison did a great job to improvise and play his parts in an interesting way. He rocked my socks off and took me straight into the groove! No matter the circumstances, Porcupine Tree always delivers quality.

“You may have heard that in Bonn yesterday Porcupine Tree unexpectedly performed as a 4-piece, as sadly our bass player Nate Navarro had a serious family crisis and needed to fly home to the States to be with his loved ones. However, rest assured that all our Summer shows will go ahead as planned!" This was their press announcement at 21 jun 2023

You know what it is about live performances, it doesn't all have to be 'bit perfect', the main thing is that the audience is entertained and we had a great evening. I hadn't heard this before btw :)
