I saw and read the road test in Road &Track and fell in love. That must have been nearly 60 years ago. I have been in love with all aspects of the 904. If my oldzimers hasn’t kicked in completely, it’s engine’s output is 200 hp, and it’s displacement is just 2 liters. In the early 1960s with carburetors.It was Porche’s only glass composite body. And it was an interm car, to hold places while the ugly 906,908,and 917 were coming into being. To tell the truth to the world, it is the last Porsche that I ever liked, and it is by far my favorite.

AndreiTupolev in order to get the performance and grip of a modern supercar the designers forgo style over pure function and aerodynamics. Yes those old Porsche and Ferrari’s were gorgeous, but the current 911 and 488 are beautiful too.

maxi milian I had a 914 in 1970 with that 4 and the 4 is no where near the 6 maybe in corner and braking but that’s it.

The car you saw in the video is chassis #906-077 which was built in 1964 with a flat-4 engine. Quite sure they have changed the engine later with a flat-6 because that definitely sounds like a flat-6. But I wasn't able to find more information about it :/

You’d be very wrong about that. The Ferrari’s looks started with the few renditions up to the 250 Testa Rossa before mid engine cars were cool. But even then Ferdy Porsche had developed the auto union racing cars of the 30s which had mid engines. Porsche was inspired by the Benz tropfenwagen (and yes, I mean Karl Benz) of fame from the 1923 European grand prize at monza. Enzo Ferrari refused to make a mid engine car seeing their weight distribution until Cooper (inspired by the auto union cars) began to dominate F1 in them. So hence the 206 P F1 was created, with the Dino engine leading through numerous Sports prototypes which developed into the Dino 206. If anything Ferrari didn’t want a mid engine car as it is officially called the Dino 206, no Ferrari plate. They are cars with distinct histories but similar origins, with little copying happening, more of a cultural movement as well as the need to homologate prototype cars with production variants.

From what I can see, there is the covered headlight treatment that is similar to the Ferrai 250 LM and maybe a slight similarity to the rear of the 250 GTO, but the Porsche 904 in 1964, was its own design. Oddly enough, the1965 (Ferrari) Dino 206 resembles the 1964 Porsche 904 somewhat.
