This video we’ll go through a step-by-step oil change of a Porsche 911 991.1 2014 Carrera 4. This covers many other model porches and is the only video that I found that walks you through every step of the way down to resetting the message on your instrument panel. Also, I invented a new automotive term I need your help in spreading. A trunk in the front is a frunk but an engine in the back is a motor booty. You heard it here first.
I hope this helps.

This is by far the most thorough and detailed oil change video for 991.1 on KZfaq! Thank you so much for sharing!👍

Excellent level of detail, I particularly appreciate showing exactly how the engine cover and fans pieces are removed and then exactly how they are reassembled. Explaining how to seat the oil filter properly was good. Also liked the step-through of how to reset the oil change reminder. Great job, much appreciated.

You made all looks simple and effortless, thank you for your unbelievable brilliant tutorial video. Indeed, Porsche dealership charges outrageously absurdly overpriced for this simple oil change. Once again Thank You, sir.

I've done oil changes in 997's with no issues but was always a little nervous about all the new covers on the hidden engine of the 991. This video made me realize it's also a breeze. Thanks for taking the time to make this. Now on the hunt for a 2013-2015 991!

Great and thorough video about an important maintenance. I live in Fl and I change the oil in May just before the big heat comes in so the fresh oil can deal with the high temp. better.

Great video! Might also want to measure out how much oil was drained and then replace with the same amount. Then check the electronic oil quantity level after the service. I over filled my 991.1 once on a DIY oil change - no damage. Whew!

I have a small lip from my driveway into the garage. If I put 1” thick plywood on the floor of garage, I can park back wheels on it and it lifts the car enough that I can remove drain plug without having to use the ramps or jack. Saves a little time. I have a 2014 C4S and the process is identical to one shown in video. Great work!

Great step by step, thank you. I'm wondering ..... at 05:26, the little plastic point, sometimes become ''brittle'' and they broke (don't ask me how I know ;-) ) so to prevent that, I usually put a little dab of grease in the female part so they are very easy to remove next time. Thank you again for your time of making video. Cheers

I like to have my car level when doing an oil change to get most of the oil out since the oil rad is out front. In my case with a sloped driveway, lifting the rear gets the car pretty well level.

37 Ft. Lbs is the torque setting that you see recommended for the oil drain plug - but you really should go with 19 Ft. Lbs instead. Many references to that on the Rennlist forum.

Can you change the filter if you only remove the fan on the right side? It looked like there was enough room to remove the filter cap without having to remove the air box in the center and the fan on the left side. That would make this job even easier. Also, any reason why you’re using 5w-40 instead of 0w-40? I thought the base 991.1 calls for 0w-40 oil. I know there isn’t much difference between the two, but wondering if you’re using 5w-40 for a reason? Thanks

people need to stop equating "dark oil = bad oil", it doesn't. Your engine oil will go dark shortly even after you put in fresh oil, so being dark doesn't mean shit...

Great video. I looked at a 2012 911 S a few weeks ago at a Mazda dealer in Buford, Ga. I've never owned a Porsche before. They wanted $88k. It had 35k miles but I knew that seem too high. I checked KBB and with those miles. It was worth $63k. @@how2togo

I bet you that your local Porsche Dealership hate you for posting this. They hate me because I replaced 4 TPMS and got $6,000.00 tips. Dealership quoted over $90,000.00 just for TPMS. I done it for much less & more. Have this client & many other for life. * 4 TPMS batteries * Rotates tires/Nitrogen Aired * Oil/Filter/Air Filter * Brake Flushed * Transmission Flushed

I appreciated good honest mechanics. Maybe porsche has so much overhead to be profitable. However, doesnt mean we have to pay it. I have a hard time finding private shops that will work on 911's close by.
@angelisone
@angelisone Жыл бұрын
@@how2togo Finding a good honest mechanic is like finding a good doctor or an attorney. I and my daughter play around with Porsche. These cars like Bugatti & Ferrari are not bad to work on. And even dealerships rare see a Porsche 959. That TPMS is way way overpriced. Don't be surprised that your TPMS batteries are going to die soon. Lucky the part doesn't cost as much as the 959. You can save money & just replace just the battery. Which I do to many. This way I & my daughter don't have to buy the tool to program it.

So every time you change the air filter you have to pull out the rear bumper? That the most stupid engineering I ever seen
@michaelcupples2197
@michaelcupples2197 Жыл бұрын
Thought the same, although it is easier to do than I expected. The torx screws are easy to remove, the bumper weighs next to nothing. The lights where not difficult to do. I found that the air filters do not get as dirty as in other cars I have owned. Wondered if the distance from intake was the reason.
