Today Outlaw Garage hit the road with Raymond and his Porsche 996. We review his mods and upgrades for a true owners guide and perspective on the first of the watercooled Porsche 911 cars, the 996. This has to be the loudest Porsche 996 we have ever heard, it is savage, the straight pipe cracks and pops so loud!

Yeah I did the straight pipe thing I then decided to do Gundo hack, barks now only when I decide it should

I think Raymond has now changed the exhaust on the car, just this week, so it will be interesting to see (hear) the difference.

I had a muffler delete but the drone was too much so I went with IPE valvetronic muffler with IPE headers and IPE xpipe. Sounds amazing.

Whoahhhhhhh that’s a loud car! Maybe a bit loud for me being convertible but a manual 996 is hard to say no to 🤩

Hmm, lovely job on the interior trimming but way way to loud. Cracked and pops are really chavvy as well.

Yes it was too much. I believe the car would have retained a more authentic Porsche engine note had the cats been retained. Trial and error right? Not to mention that lead on times on orders out of Italy, USA, Germany etc are 9 months plus. Furthermore, all parts are made by hand and are generally not stocked on shelves. Lastly, the cost is prohibitive too... Happy to announce that on Monday Tubi Style back boxes are being installed. For those of you who aren't familiar with the 996 platform, the idea behind removing the back boxes was never to amplify the sound of the engine. It was done for weight reduction.

Too LOUD for the street unless you are a teenager~~ looking for some "who knows what?" I love my 996 w/ the PSE, Neighborhood friendly exhaust. However, It is loud when you get on it. Outside of the neighborhood! Respect your neighbors !!

It does completely change the car, I'm catching up with Raymond again soon as he has made some changes to the exhaust, update coming soon.

I like a bit of noise and have Miltek silencers, a PSR 9 Line resonator delete and K&N panel filter. It sounds great. That’s loud but an appalling sound. Just sounds like a Fiesta with a broken manifold.

Nice video but maybe shoot a bit more footage of the car. Haven’t seen the front anywhere in the video. Maybe you don’t like the fried eggs headlights?

We're big fans of 996's, I don't think we covered the front as we were so amazed with the inside and the engine. We'll remember to shout next time.

Hi Supermoto, perhaps you're not a Porsche man? It's a series 2. 996 which any true enthusiast would know has revised lights. The "runny egg" (not fried egg) lights were a feature of the series 1. 996, Cheers.

That exhaust sounds genuinely awful, something only a pimply 18yo P plater could love. The black wheels look rubbish on a black car. Tartan seats look ok at best. It's a 4/10 outcome.
