Porsche 997 Turbo is capable of generating 1.2g of deceleration. Known stopping distance from 200-0km/h in 133m, from 270km/h it would take 242m to bring the car to a full stop. Not 337m like the collision analyst claims. Hire better staff!

Let's be honest tho, what situation would require someone on a multi-lane highway to come to a complete stop, yet not be obviously visible from hundreds of meters away? Everything is moving in the same direction, the whole "requires X amount of room to stop" calculations are dumb. If a toddler runs in front of your car going highway speeds, it doesn't matter if you're going 110km/h or 270km/h, you aren't stopping in time. Not even gonna mention the existence of swerving to avoid a collision.

Reminds me of back in the day(1967) what I saw in a major Canadian newspaper. The RCMP had a radar set up on the freeway/TCW east of Vancouver and a car blew by it at a speed that maxed out the radar gun. RCMP gave chase to no avail and radioed this in and by luck there was a RCMP chopper in the air somewhere east in the valley. The car outran the chopper and by then a road block was set up east somewhere, where the car was stopped. About 2 weeks later in the classifieds I saw - Lambo for sale - must sell - phone number. It was clocked somewhere at 175 mph. 🤣

This would be impossible to do in Ontario - all our highways are so busy, you’ll be lucky if you can reach 60 km/h at any time of day. Yeah, we proud of it! And if someone would see a cop car parked on a shoulder - they just gonna stop too, because reasons.

If you were ever that stupid to go that fast you should have your license taken for a looooong time if you ever and I mean ever get it back which you never should in my opinion. To me that’s almost attempted suicide and murder. You are begging to have the blood of an innocent family on your hands. Engineers shouldn’t even allow vehicles to be designed to be able to reach such a speed there should be a built in inhibitor there’s just no excuse for this to happen.

If that driver had an accident they would be literally scraping him off the weeds or tarmac. Caught In Ontario he would be towed car impounded a week,or two and insurance notified and license suspended for 2 weeks , Look up Ontario Street Racing / Stunt driving laws.

don't get me wrong, I'm a car guy and love these cars, but on a public road, at this speed? unacceptable. Canada needs to have regulations that allow a vehicle to be crushed on site or confiscated and sold. also, driving is a privilege. for serious offenses like this, should be revoked for a couple years. if this person is caught driving any vehicle in the suspended period, crush the thing on site.
