The absolute pinnacle of a unicorn on 4 wheels, by the king of (GT) race car manufacturers.

This channel never fails with the cinematography, the images, the people, the stories and of course, the cars. One of my favorite videos so far honestly.

Went to fill up my 996 GT3 in May this year at my local hi octane fuel station when I saw a road legal GT1 at the pumps! Brilliant surprise and really nice film crew and team eating ice cream. The ‘head honcho’ showed interest in my car, and the common denominator, the Metzger engine. Chance meeting of a such an iconic car, great guys and a video that really does this car justice. Keep it on the nearby roads from time to time guys.

Loved this era of cars, with very limited road car numbers. Always liked the CLK-GTR more, but this is just as rare and special.

I had closed captions on, and when the scene cut to the car accelerating, spooling up and down the turbos, the captions read "[Music]"... I agree!

I remember seeing this car in period race in Canada. In fairness the multiple championships it 'won' were against very weak competition by comparison however that should not take away from how special a car it is. To this day I can clearly remember the noise of the turbo dump valves (that were well captured in this video BTW). Klaus Bytzek still has one of the 3 cars in Canada and him and his brother are really lovely chaps.

A modern equivalent to James Dean and his 550 spyder back in his day..This is what it would have been like to have drove a Spyder on the public roads back in 1955..A rare sight indeed. Can you imagine..

No one should be confused that the 1996 Le Mans results were achieved with a GT1 Evo like the one featured in this video. The Evo was not raced until 1997. Even the modest results at Le Mans in 1997 were achieved with a privately-entered 1996-spec car, managing 3rd in class, and 5th overall.

It was beaten in 1997 FIA GT Championship by Mercedes CLK GTR and in 1997 Lemans by McLaren F1 GTR Longtail but I still don't care this car is phenomenal

I've always like this headlight design though a lot of Porsche-philes hated it. It really fits the look of this car. Very cool, but not sure how these converted race versions will end up in a few years. In my opinion the king in the range is still the street version. Looking at the McLaren F1s, the road cars are always doing better than the converted race cars, I believe it will be a similar case for the GT1 as well. The only reason I would consider a road legal race car will worth a lot would be that the race version was never sold to customer teams, has a great racing history and there is no direct road car version, and of course usable on the road, something like the V8 DTM cars from 2012.
