I’m happy to see 914s being recognized these days. they damn-sure have been in the shadows for many, many moons. I bought a ‘75 2.0L 914 in ‘93 as a 14yr old. the problem that took it off the road a dozen years before was a break in the circuitry of the ECU (fuel injection) that was fixed with one drop of solder. I bought 10ft of great German fuel line, tires, gasoline, oil, brake fluid & a battery. it was painted the same year & has still to this day Never Left Me Stranded. I drove it in daily for a year, then switched between the 914 & and 4x4 S-10 Blazer. a 914 is an incredible little auto that you either love, hate or haven’t seen yet. I still want to give mine the horsepower that I feel it deserves. I’m considering a multi-rotor Mazda swap, built up booster Subaru swap, 2J Nissan (I have two), or a 6 cylinder Porsche engine. I have a ‘75 2.8L from my ‘75 Carrera S that ran before I pulled it to swap in a G50 & 3.2L PCA-Spec built bomber. so, I have options, but cannot pull the trigger to take off in any specific direction. when you see a dude lapping traffic in a 914 around Watkin’s Glenn, Road Atlanta, etc. on Porsche Club track days, you are seeing what the 914 was originally drawn to do. the 908 was an amazing racer & it’s street legal cousin can rip corners as well.

I'm learning a ton from watching you poke around your car. I have a '74 that I have owned for about 20 years, stored in a barn, waiting for my retirement to work on it. Problem is much of it is in pieces with some evidently missing. Good news is that it has far less rust than your red one. The longitudinals, being essentially square tubes, are water traps. The "Hell hole(s)" are nearly always bad on these cars. Gonna enjoy watching and learning!!

That little Porsche box in the floorpan is probably to change the gearing for the speedo and odomoter from kmh to mph. Looks like its a cable from the gearbox that rotates to turn the gauges
@hansgarage175111 ай бұрын
Sounds like you've done the floor pans before. The inner firewall is a little tough but you'll be glad you replaced it. That passenger side outer long will be the most challenging as you'll probably need to replace the hinge plate, sill and sill supports (triangles). Add the two side jack plates and all four lift points... three months cutting, welding and grinding if you've got a day job. Good luck and have fun!
